Sounds like there is a real chance both of these games get rained out today. Both teams have an offday tomorrow, but NY probably can't get 40-50 hotel rooms on such short notice, so they'd probably be made up later in the season if not played today.

This is pretty much what I always fear will happen when I buy tickets for games - so glad that it turned out this way on both days. Normally I'd agree that it's a rainout type of day, but we've seen them play through some awful conditions before in these situations where it's the last time a team comes to town. I think they'll at least try to finish yesterday's game.

If they somehow play 2 games today, both teams get a 26th player for the second game, NY's would be Gallegos (the only healthy pitcher on the 40 man who isn't a stashed prospect).

Was kind of excited to see Scherzer. Maybe I'll get Severino as a consolation.

You'll likely get Greg Bird as a bonus.

So NY will have played 5 1/2 innings over 4 days, it's like a second ASB.

two off-days become one+ games of makeup, that is tough luck.

Thanks to Oakland's two wins over Boston these past two evenings, Yanks have improved their position while idle.
Kind of makes the ugly weekend 2-1 series conquest of A's look a lot better.

I wonder how they will set up the rotation now, they could skip all of CC and Gray and German and go back to Severino on full rest on Friday in KC.

Looks like basically they just moved up Severino and moved back German:

"Yankees pitching for KC series: Sabathia, Severino, Gray. Tanaka Monday at Texas, German on Tuesday. German will be available out of the bullpen for the KC series."

Clint Frazier will stay on the roster for now, yay.

With Monty down and German new to the rotation, the rainout is not a bad thing. That's three games kicked down the road. This is okay because it would seem the Yankees are only going to get better as the season develops.

Kahnle and Bird will be back soon but other guys could go out at any time, and Daniel Murphy will be back for WAS by then and possibly others. They might miss Scherzer this way, though.

Either way, nothing you can do, and there was baseball played under some very ugly conditions elsewhere today, which always scares me for guys getting hurt. I have no idea how the Mets got an entire game in this afternoon but the end was especially ridiculous, groundskeepers dragging the bases in a downpour in a 12-1 game with two outs in the ninth.

There's supposed to be rain in KC on Friday, by the way.
