    This...

This might be the worst metaphor I have ever heard.

Part of me is oddly delighted.

The small skiff floated across the water in exactly the manner a brick would fail to.....

Dude, you have to watch out for those sweaters. They’ll sneak up on you.

Has anyone heard from Creed? He was in some sort of "big trouble" during the early part of the game. I am worried...

"Reverend" said "heard" and so did I.

Hey, if you think that's bad, I was going to suggest "Tristan and Isola" as the title for the game thread.

Wow, OK, I'm not sure this is either a metaphor or a simile.

First of all, there is no simile-style like-or-as symbolic construct to make it a simile. The "like guys who don't particularly like each other" is not really is simile here, no? Isn't it more of a speculative claim about the reality of their relationships. It is more saying, "the Cavs appear to not like each other and it shows in their play."

A simile would be more along the lines of saying, "the Cavs play Defense like children who don't like being at school and want to go home."

Here the simile elements include the fact that these are grown men, not children, and they are not at school but playing basketball.

But also, isn't the primary image also a literalism meaning that the players put in defensive effort to impress cheerleaders, literally, thus enabling getting (in a manner of speaking) literally inside their sweaters?

This isn't really the improvement you might expect.
