Two more hits for JBJ including a dinger.  Not only is his average very high, his OBP - a key part to his perceived value before he struggled in the bigs - is back up around .400. He looks like a great prospect right now (if I can still call him prospect)

It's always been thought if his offense can be just average to go along with his gold glove defense in CF (or RF for us next year?) he could be a heck of a player.
Rusney betts Bradley next year with Hanley at 1B

Or is the thought we will package him soon for pitching if he keeps this up?

Jackie's horrid 2014 season just got worse and worse as he lost whatever selectivity he had, started pulling the ball even more and accentuated his upper cut swing.  Hopefully, it was just a "normal" reaction from a frustrated young player who, given his "big chance," resisted coaching advice, but now is learning his lesson.

He's currently hitting .347, without much power, until today.  His BAPIP is around .425, so maybe you wait until it comes down and see if he manage to control his "frustration factor."

But yes, going forward, he could be the perfect 4th/5th outfielder for a Sox outfield that has H Ramirez(LF)-Betts(CF)-Castillo(RF).  Notice that this assumes Craig and Victorino are gone in 2016, and that Nava, who will become arb-eligible in 2016, is no longer such a great deal.  Nava has shown he is not the consistent hitter he was in 2013.  With JBJ, you'll always know you'll have his consistently great defense on hand.  If only he can be above "pathetic" at the plate.  But barring injury, or a mass clearing of Craig-Victorino-Nava approaching the trade deadline, i don't think we'll see much of JBJ until September.

His walk rate is less than 6% now, so the OBP is BABIP driven.

Any word on how Rusney is looking?

Paw Sox radio said he was mashing to start the year, then once his timing came been back after 8-10 AB  the last 3 days he's been hitting rockets against.

McGrath is quietly putting together a nice start to the season. ERA now at 1.88 and WHIP sitting at 1.08. He's striking out 8.25 per nine but also walking 6 per nine. He was number 23 prospect before a rough year at Greenville last year. As a 20 year old in high A and only his second year in full season, if he can keep this up and get the walks down, I imagine he could climb back into the prospect discussion.

RE McGrath:

I've always found him interesting, in large part due to his background. While I do think he's a guy worth following, I would also temper expectations as his raw stuff isn't great. According to SP, He doesn't offer any pitches that currently project as plus and while he's had good control in the past, he's had issues with command in the past. He also isn't a big velocity guy, sitting in the high 80s.

Still, he's very young for the levels he's been pitching, is presumably very new to level coaching, and has 3 pitches that could grade out as average. That could be a back end starter if the command improves (big if, of course).
