Offense hasn't really been the problem during this five-game skid ... until yesterday.

Today should be a slugfest as both teams reach into the bottom of the barrel for starting pitchers. Luis Cessa for NY vs. Oakland righty Jharel Cotton.

Time for NY to stop being a punching bag and remember who they were just one week ago today

In the 3rd Gardner leads off with a double off CF wall, Judge basehit scores him and he replaces Gardner on 2nd, 2-0

    Why is Castro swinging 3-0?

Castro ends the inning with a check-swing groundout on a 3-0 count!

Why is he check-swinging would be better question. No problem with letting him hack on 3-0.

Old sports adage: You're never as good as you look when winning, and never as bad as you look when losing. I would amend that to say red-hot teams can only go in one direction, and the same goes for slumping teams.

Six more outs before a shitty flight across the country.

Holliday hits into DP to end the 8th.

Until I turned 60, this kind of road trip would piss me off. But it's June. Who cares?

I've been out of the house since Judge won the game in Anaheim Monday night, anything happen since then? I didn't think so.

Win six in a row, lose six in a row.

The last time NY had a road trip this bad was May 23-31, 1995 (1-8). Derek Jeter and Mariano Rivera both played their first games during that trip, though, so maybe not all bad. :)

I almost never say this out loud, but good win for Boston.

Back to basically tied for first, not only do BOS/NY still have 14 games to play against each other but all of them are after the ASB, so 14 of the final 76 for NY, 10 of the last 49. One of those is a makeup game but still that is as backloaded a head-to-head as I remember, seems like a good year for it.

NY won six in a row with a +48 run differential, then lost six in a row with a -9, that is crazy. They really missed Chapman this past week in all those close losses as I unfortunately predicted, but he's back now and they are going home where Aaron Judge is hitting .400/.519/.886. Hopefully Hicks is back too...
