Poor defense leads the DSL 1 squad to a loss, 5-3.

Felix Cepeda pitched the first two frames, yielding four runs (one earned) on one hit and three walks; striking out a trio and committing a balk. Jeison Pena went three scoreless, giving up three hits and a walk while whiffing one. Osvaldo De La Rosa walked one and struck out one in the sixth. Carlos Cortes walked one and hit one over his two frames; also whiffing one. Luis Colmenares relinquished a run on a hit, a walk, and a hit by pitch in the ninth.

Ceddanne Rafaela, Carlos Sanchez, and Lewis Baez each bopped two hits in four at-bats; Baez with a double. Denny Daza and Jesus Maita each had a single in four jaunts. Gamaliel Gonzalez had a pinch hit single in the ninth batting for Luis Mota who had three hitless matchups. Cristofe Tineo walked three and gave up a hit over three scoreless innings; whiffing a trio. Isaias Ozoria relinquished a hit and whiffed three in his two innings. Irvin Villarroel walked a pair and struck out one in the ninth.

Angel Maita and Danny Diaz each had a pair of hits in four at-bats; Maita with a double and a stolen base, Diaz with a homer. Angel Gonzalez smacked a double in three tries. Oscar Rangel had a hit in four opportunities. Ronaldo Pulgar was unable to reach in three attempts. Brandon Workman came in with the bases loaded and no outs and proceeded to strike out the side. Robby Scott relinquished a run on two hits in the eighth; whiffing a pair.

Mike Ohlman obtained two singles, a walk and a stolen base in four matchups. Rusney Castillo, Aneury Tavarez, and Mike Miller each had one hit in four trips; Castillo with a homer, Tavarez with a stolen base. Tzu-Wei Lin lined a single in five treks. Jordan Betts received two bases on balls in four jaunts. Cole Sturgeon earned a free pass in four sessions. Ramon Flores flied out in the ninth pinch hitting for Oscar Hernandez, who had three hitless at-bats. Adam Lind began his Red Sox career with four fizzled forays.
