Josh Smith surrendered three walks and a single in three scoreless innings; striking out a trio. Fernando Rodriguez relinquished three runs on four hits – including a Tony Cruz tater – over three frames; whiffing a quartet. Tyler Thornburg returned to rehab, pitching a 1-2-3 seventh with a K (nine pitches/eight strikes). Kyle Martin was mauled for four runs on six hits – including a Chadwick Tromp cuadrangular – and a walk over 1 1/3 innings; Martin also uncorked a wild pitch. Ty Buttrey came in and struck out the only two batters he faced to end the ninth.

Rusney Castillo had a perfect night with three singles, two doubles, and a stolen base. Adam Lind was a triple shy of the cycle with his 3-for-5 night. Mike Ohlman managed two singles and a walk in four matchups before being pinch run for by Aneury Tavarez; Tavarez was unable to get a hit in his one trip. Oscar Hernandez also had two singles and a base on balls in four opportunities. Mike Miller had two singles in four at-bats. Jordan Betts blooped a single in four jaunts. Tzu-Wei Lin and Cole Sturgeon each lined a single in five sessions; Lin added a stolen base and a caught stealing. Ramon Flores dropped down a sacrifice bunt in his four forays.

PawSox left 10 on base, going a mediocre 4-for-14 with runners in scoring position.

Dedgar Jimenez yielded four runs on three walks and seven hits – including an Anthony Santander swat – over six frames; whiffing four. Daniel McGrath pitched two scoreless innings, giving up a hit and a walk while striking out three. Kevin McAvoy failed to get an out in the ninth, being charged with three runs (two earned) on a double, three walks, and a wild pitch. Adam Lau let in two of the three runners he inherited, relinquishing a hit and striking out one in the ninth.

Jeremy Rivera ripped a single and dropped a sacrifice in four jaunts. Jhon Nunez notched a single in four at-bats. Tate Matheny managed two walks in four matchups. Austin Rei reached on a base on balls and a hit by pitch in four appearances. Danny Mars walked once in three trips. Josh Ockimey received a free pass in four opportunities. Darwinzon Hernandez was dinged for four runs on five hits – including a Joel Booker jack – and four walks over five frames; whiffing seven. Daniel Gonzalez gave up two runs (one earned) on six hits – including a solo round tripper by Zach Remillard – over 3 2/3 innings; whiffing three.

Gonzalez had a tough ninth in the loss. After getting one out, he gave up a single to Ti'Quan Foster. After getting the second out, his attempt to pick off Foster went awry, and Foster went to second. Alex Call came up and hit a comebacker which was deflected by Gonzalez to second baseman Brett Netzer. By the time the play ended, Foster was celebrating his walk-off dash with the rest of the Dash.

Brett Netzer notched a double, two walks, and a sacrifice fly in five trips. Tyler Hill and Jordan Wren each had a hit and a walk in four jaunts; Wren with a triple, Hill with a pair of swipes. Santiago Espinal and C.J. Chatham each contributed a single and a base on balls in five excursions. Chris Madera managed a single in four matchups. Bobby Dalbec and Roldani Baldwin each had a hit in five at-bats; Dalbec with his 12th bomb of the season. Jerry Downs was unable to deliver in four uninspired ups.

South Atlantic League All-Star Kutter Crawford controlled the Jackets over six scoreless innings, giving up three hits and three walks while whiffing five. Lukas Young came in for the ninth and got two outs; but hit one batter before giving up the game-winning blast to Logan Baldwin.

Tanner Nishioka notched another perfect day, with a single and two doubles in three trips. SALLY All-Star Victor Acosta accumulated a single and a stolen base in three ventures. Lorenzo Cedrola – who was not named to the All-Star team – contributed a double in four at-bats. Marino Campana walked once in three matchups. Frankie Rios, Isaias Lucena, Michael Osinski, Everlouis Lozada, and Jagger Rusconi each had three junky jaunts.

Ryan Fitzgerald – signed from the independent league Gary SouthShore RailCats in May – made his organizational debut a good one with two singles, a sacrifice bunt, and a successful steal of home in his three trips. Michael Osinski obtained two singles and a triple in four matchups; he was caught stealing however. Charlie Madden managed a single and two sacrifice flies in three attempts. Tanner Nishioka notched a single and a walk in three treks. Kervin Suarez slashed a single and dropped a sacrifice bunt in three sessions; he also stole a base. Jagger Rusconi ripped a single in three jaunts. Lorenzo Cedrola and Victor Acosta each laced a double in four ventures. Frankie Rios struck out in each of his four foul forays.

Brandon Rincones singled once in two trips before being pinch hit for by Leonel Jimenez who hit an RBI single in the eighth. Erick Flores flicked a triple and drew a walk in three excursions.
