This is a game the Yankees should win. They are home, their ace is on the mound. Bullpen is rested except for Adam Warren, who kept last night's game close. Game time is 4:05 p.m.
Severino vs. lefty Drew Pomeranz, who throws a lot of pitches and rarely lasts into the 7th inning. Seve can go into a lot of deep counts, too.
How about getting ahead early for a change?

Tanaka to 10-day DL with right shoulder inflammation. Sadly, he is easily replaceable.

Unfortunately German can't take his start as it would be on three days rest, so I'm guessing it will be Mitchell who pitched four scoreless in relief against TOR and is lined up properly for a Monday start.

NY has gotten very few cheap HRs to RF all season, but that is two in three innings at a much-needed time, go Gary.

On the replay you can clearly see he missed that ball, it comes off the bat at a ridiculous angle....

Yeah, he didn't even run out of the box, he was sure it was foul.

He's now 5-11 with 3 HRs off Pomeranz, though. Sanchez really needs to get more respect for his overall performance since coming up just over a year ago, he's been pretty incredible even with his recent ball-blocking issues.

Awful error by Little League, but Severino can't walk two guys to start off the inning like that.

That's what happens when you walk garbage hitters like Vazquez and JBJ.

The important thing is that there is an Italian street fair four blocks from my house today, and I have already gotten one sausage sandwich with very spicy peppers.

Bout to grill some steak and try to ignore annoying baseball games, and the fucking Nazis.

Hopefully a rally appears out of thin air like last night.

Severino is just like the rest of the team: binary...something flips his switch to off for one inning and then it resets. inexplicable

Seve off his game again in fifth inning.

And another 3-run HR from Benintendi.

Now it turns really ugly. After the homer, Moreland checks-swings a double over the third base bag. First out recorded on deep fly to center. And then Didi bounces a throw to first. Seve is mercifully hooked. Down 8-3, two runners are his responsibility, as John Sterling must be telling Suzyn right now while they sweat in the afternoon sun. Suzyn's perfume has probably worn off by now. No wonder Sterling is blind.

Devers clears the bases. 10-3. Boston must be pissed about something.

Gallegos helping his long-term stock with NY with a nice 2.2 inning performance so far, I wonder if he can keep going. Either way he is likely going back tomorrow, welcome back Ben Heller.

Mitchell in here means that Cessa or Caleb Smith will likely get the start Monday, yuck.

Could have used that with the bases loaded early, Ellsbury.

if the Yankees lose the AL East then we must hope for minn to be in the Wild card game as KC and Sea scare me in a 1-game playoff

is likey it will be Cle @ Hou in the ALCS anyway but the yankees are close as they need 1 more SP in the offseason but other than that if we can get Harper in 2 years that will create the 04-08 red sox lineup if the yankees can fix the bullpen just a littie after 2018 i ex the yankees to win 3 worlds series in 5 years

Not sure who KC would be starting in a one game playoff (NY kills Vargas), but anyone can win the wild-card coin flip game, I fucking hate it whether my team is in it or not. Why even bother playing 9 full innings, why not just start it in the 10th?

And I definitely think it's pretty remarkable how far NY has come in the last 12 months, but they still have a lot of work to do and there are a bunch of other great young talent bases being put together, LA, HOU, CHC, BOS, maybe ATL or CHW in a few years.
