Can't think of too many reasons for a midseason 11 AM Sunday press conference, FINGERS ARE FREAKING CROSSED.

I am totally guessing, but a huge thank you as of now to Teixeira for showing A-Rod how it's done.

Is this to prevent Rodriguez from passing Ruth in pinstripes? That's low.

I have an eye on the AAA game to see if Judge or Austin comes out prematurely. but it's not like Scranton is such a far drive either way.

ALAYA didn't predict this.

With 687 career home runs, the most among active players, New York Yankees legend Alex Rodriguez is likely to surpass several significant home run milestones this year. This presents a conundrum for a Yankees front office wrestling with opposing impulses to A) celebrate every Yankee accomplishment, no matter how small, and B) keep Rodriguez at arm’s length because he is not a True Yankee. To address this conflict, the Yankee front office has turned to advanced analytics.

I may be dumb, but at least I can correctly make acronyms. :)

Girardi's retiring and A-Rod's taking over as a player-manager.

The cradle of the game.
He'll just announce next year is his last year to get the retirement tour.
Naah, he's done and even he knows it. His ego cannot begin to process how vacant a handful of meaningless at bats in an empty bidet would feel.

Last AB on August 2nd will forever be etched in the annals of baseball history: Pinch hitting for Anthony Swarzak, vs. Jonathon Niese in Queens, mighty ARod flied out weakly to right field.

We will never know how Red Sox history would have turned out if Boston's 2003 trade for A-Rod had gone through.

0-3 to 4-3
"We understand that John Henry must be embarrassed, frustrated and disappointed by his failure in this transaction. Unlike the Yankees, he chose not to go the extra distance for his fans in Boston."

Thanks George!

What else is going on tomorrow at 11? It ain't an A-rod press conference unless he is rudely interrupting a vastly more important event.

One of my favorite ARod moments was when they won the Series in 2009. Jeter starts running to the mound and everyone, including Mo, run past him to celebrate with ARod. It was hilarious.

Not sure how everyone is missing the most obvious answer here: the press conference is to announce that he finally is ready to fully transition to a centaur, and Cashman and Girardi are there to stand behind him.

He's 4 HRs away from 700. I just find it strange that he would do either.
NY has made it quite clear they're not giving him ABs anymore, so I could see a situation where he and the team agree to release him now (maybe with a slight decrease in the money owned, but I doubt much) and he trains to try to get invited to someone else's spring training next year to get to 700.
