Adam Fox, not a fan of fun celebrations:

Hearing that the Hurricanes have been informed Adam Fox isn't likely to sign with them, that a trade would be the desired route, and I'm guessing the Rangers would top the d-man's list. Carolina looking at its options...

The scoreboard sits at Hanifan and Lindholm (who's a PPG guy this year) for Dougie Hamilton and Michael Ferland. Ouch.

Fox was always a strange inclusion in that deal. His potential is enticing, but Calgary hasdsignability concerns with him and then Carolinahad to have similar worries, especially since they have a crowded blue line.

Word is Fox wants to sign this year and burn a year off his ELC. There’s CBA gymnastics to do to make it work, so that seems unlikely. It’d need to be a sign and trade in the next week since the only way for him to burn a year is by signing with Carolina, and he wouldn’t be eligible to play for his new team after being traded. He’ll probably fetch a 2 or 3 at the draft like Vesey did.

Is he as good a prospect as he looks? His offensive stats are out of this world. Beyond anything even Krug did in college and the reports from his draft year say he has two way ability also. On the surface, he seems to be a more exciting prospect than Vesey ever was and easily worth a first round pick from a team that needs a young D.

I’m sure there’s a team that would give up a first, but his signability issues will surpress his market and value.

He's in a somewhat different situation than Vesey, who was about to be an RFA when he was traded. Buffalo gave up a 3rd rounder and he signed with the Rangers anyway.

Fox seems to be trying to parlay his breakout season into getting everything he wants -- picking his team and burning a year of his ELC. I don't see Carolina helping him out there unless they're getting a very good asset back. I'm not sure Winnipeg's 1st rounder is going to be enough on it's own. And I'm sure the Rangers' own pick is off the table. My guess is the Winnipeg pick and one of the Rangers' 2nd/3rd rounders, or he goes back to college for another year.

I'm really not sure why he doesn't want to sign in Carolina, especially if they're willing to burn a year of his ELC. They have a need at RD on their 3rd pair and have a great track record of developing defensemen (although not the new coaching staff specifically). And he'd pretty much be guaranteed to be paired with a very good partner. And then he can go sign in NY in a few years

I’m fascinated to see how his game turns out...I didnt think he was showing enough speed at the NCAA level, looked like he was just taking advantage of space that may not be available in the League. But I thought he was an outstanding at the WJC last year, so we’ll see.

Curious as to where all this money is coming from? Q was owed like $6 million from Chicago for next year.

They’re going to be a pain. Q has a lot to work with there already, and they are probably adding Panarin and Bobrovsky. They need to add on D, but they are probably a wild card team this year if they could’ve gotten league average goaltending.

Lottery tonight...Chicago, NYR and the Devils win and will be the top 3 in some order. Dodged the EDM bullet. Avs drop from 1 to 4 and the Senators exhale.

New Jersey wins again. NYR 2nd. Chicago 3. Two horses at the top of the draft, Jack Hughes and Kappo Kakko.

Also, Taylor Hall, lottery specialist. 9 seasons in the league, 5 times his team has won the lottery (RNH, Yakupov, McDavid, Hischier, Hughes/Kakko).

Adam Fox traded to NYR instead of playing in the Eastern Conference semis

As I understand the situation with him, he told CAR that he wasn’t going to sign and go UDFA next year. This is a trade for his rights that expire In July. He is not with the team.

Right, he's not with the team because he told them he didn't want to play for them. But like I said in my post above, if he did, I think it's very likely he'd be in the lineup right now.

2nd rounder this year and a 2020 3rd that becomes a 2nd if Fox plays in 30 games, which seems likely to happen.

Pretty solid haul for Carolina. The Rangers had picks to burn. They have WPG’s first still, TB’s 2nd, and Dallas’ second that could become a first if Dallas gets by STL, plus another 3rd or 1st from Dallas next year.

I totally didn't remember that your original post was where I got the info.
