Serious question.....which team is more frustrating to support -

A team that can score in bunches but defends like children (Liverpool)

Or

A team that seems to be decent defending but can throw salt in the ocean (Everton)?
You're too kind.

Although to be fair the back four were pretty good, Keane better than he has been.

Can't remember watching a more low key Merseyside derby before. I wish Everton had got stuck into Liverpool a bit more. Everton need fresh young legs, a fresh outlook.

If Sam had any chance of keeping the job he just blew it. No one wants to see Everton come out that passively against LFC at Goodison.

Rooney needs to go also. He sucks the oxygen out of the room.

Palace back to the 4-4-2 that they used to get out of their hole when Benteke was hurt. Zaha and Townsend are up front and hopefully CB gets some time to get himself sorted.

Edit: it drives me crazy that Hodgson keeps playing Loftus-Cheek on the wing instead of the middle where he is so much better. I’d almost rather see a 4-3-3 with him in the front and Zaha and Townsend in their more traditional roles.

Every time I see Bournemouth play I think they are assholes. This time one of them wraps his legs around Zaha so he can’t get up.

Aaron Wan-Bissaka has done a really nice job the past few weeks for Palace at RB and only 18 years old.

Milovojevic with a beautiful free kick. Palace up by a goal.

I am so glad Big Sam brought him in. He’s been arguably the best player this season.

Happiness as Spurs regain the lead to instant agony as Bournemouth equalizes.

Palace have had two golden chances that they screwed the pooch on. I figured they’d give something up even though they’ve been much the better team.

Can Palace hold on? Huge three points of they can hang on. Zaha with a bit of magic, got a bit lucky with the deflection, but i think Palace are due a bit of luck.

terrific off Saturday for West Ham.
No team below them took a full 3 points.
No matter tomorrow's result they'll stay in 14th and have a game in hand on 4 of the 6th beneath them

United just isn't playing inspired soccer right now. It looks like none of the guys have ever played together before, and they lack basic spacing and attack positioning. Just getting the ball across midfield is a challenge; and their defense has been arguably worse. I'm no expert; but United has a team of proven players; Jose really needs to take the blame here.

United are crap. Their league position is largely a product of De Gea being a God among men, finishing luck, and having splashed enough cash to at least have some individual talents upfront (who don’t play well together). But Mourinho isn’t building the foundation of an elite team. The side has no idea what to do with the ball in possession.

A well timed post!

Palace will be fine, Stoke looks done, and Southampton and Huddersfield are both worse.
I think you’re right, and Huddersfield have a terrible run of games to end the season, but every week, Palace give away points at the end of the game. The talent is there, but the points are not. I’m worried. It’s got to be so mentally draining for them right now.

Maybe xG gets it wrong sometimes?
Not this time. United had three decent chances all game, and scored all of them. City had six or seven (both goals, Sterling's two 1v1s in the first half, Gundogan hitting a free header straight at De Gea, Aguero's header that De Gea made an absurd save on, Sterling hitting the post) and scored only two, plus they had a couple good penalty shouts denied, plus Ashely Young could very easily have been sent off. United, as they say, rode their luck.

Well maybe it’s time to accept that luck happens in a game?

For some reason MMS has an axe to grind when it comes to United. Or I’ll hear “United are being saved by De Gea”. Well, isn’t De Gea part of the team? Couldn’t you also have said “if it wasn’t for Lukakus goals you’d be in trouble”?

You guys can give me all the advanced stats you want, but United are one of two teams to beat every team in the league this year. Vs the other big six teams they’ve taken 16 points from 9 games which isn’t bad. If they win their game in hand, they’re four points up on second place.

Just because the style isn’t there doesn’t mean they don’t deserve to be where they are. This season is an improvement on last year’s and hopefully they can build on it for next year.

California. Duh.
I think the point is, there's a decent chance United could regress to the mean a bit next year if they don't get all the "luck" they had this season, much like a baseball team that has high BABIP or radically outpaces their expected Pythagorean record one year could bring back the same team and easily drop 10 wins the next year.

In truth, we know United will make several changes to the squad next season, so it's impossible to predict. But isn't discussions like this one of the reasons we come here? Otherwise, we can just take the table as absolute and close most of these threads.

Pulisic (probably) tried to cross into the box and ended up scoring to put Dortmund up 1-0 after a mostly terrible half

Alex McCarthy is approaching Bogdan levels of goalkeeping futility

Wilshere needs to give up and just shave his head
