I agree any news about Gronk being limited is worrisome. At the same time, I have to imagine that it's also possible that BB simply didn't want to subject Gronk to potentially getting his knee destroyed because JG or JB floated a pass to him across the middle. Belichick obviously takes every precaution in keeping Gronk healthy – and the likelihood of Brady not hanging his receivers lot to dry is much higher.

There is also at least a bit of buzz that the contract thing could be at the root of some of this. Not sure that's going to prevent him from showing up in practice or on the field but certainly strange things have happened with Gronk.

I'm withholding opinion/judgement until we see how he's used with Brady back. My gut tells me that even with Jimmy G he would have been used much differently than he has been with Jacoby. Then again my intuition has constantly let me down in my 37 years, ranging from the women I've fallen for to thinking Brady would be exonerated by Wells. Calling its track record spotty would be kind.

But, any way you look at it, it's worrisome. We had high hopes of an injury free year for Gronk, and we're a quarter through the regular season and he hasn't really played. Hopefully he's easing in, and he'll be fine the rest of the year/playoffs, but this is less than ideal.
I think they're just babying the hammy since they have a capable replacement and it's infinitely more important that he be playing in January than September/October. Hamstring pulls are notoriously troublesome, so I'm fine with them relying on Bennett for the time being.

Exactly. Barring disaster, we are a shoo-in for the division with or without Gronk. Having him healthy for the playoffs is the key to winning it all again.

That "buzz" is nothing than uninformed media speculation. He limped off the field back in training camp, did not play or practice for close to a month, and had a truncated week of practice prior to his debut in Game 3. All signs point solely to injury that's taking time to heal, not uncommon with a serious hamstring injury.

That's pretty much what he said at his presser today. Pointed out that it was obviously an ongoing issue, that he hasn't been ready to go fill bore, and that had picked up more work the last two weeks as things were improving. Gronk has historically been cautious coming back from injury, most likely this is the same and he's going to get unleashed at some point, just don't know the timing.

Since he's not Jimmy Graham, he still adds value blocking at least.

You know chicken salad is not the opposite of tuna, salmon is the opposite of tuna, cause salmon swim against the current, and the tuna swim with it.

Pretty good article by Ian O'Connor at ESPN detailing Brady's drive to win more than ever after Deflategate. Much of the piece is a conversation with Brady's longtime friend and former Michigan teammate, Aaron Shea.

"I think Deflategate hurt Tommy a lot more than he'll let anyone know. ...This is only going to make Tom better. It's going to hurt the other 31 teams because Tom is healthy, he didn't have to take any hits the first four games, and now he's angry."

All these years later, Brady doesn't have to hunt for his next opponent which he believes did him wrong. Asked if he thinks the godfather of his son wants to stick it to Goodell, Shea said: "One hundred percent. He'll never tell anyone that, but we're all human. You want to stick it to someone who stuck it to you. Deflategate was a witch hunt for Goodell and all the other owners who wanted to slow the Patriots down. And now everyone in the NFL knows Tom is back and fired up. If there's one guy in the history of sports who didn't need to cheat, it's Tommy Brady."

The revenge factor seems overrated historically. The 2015 Pats were supposed to pummel the Colts for DFG but it was a competitive game until the "fake punt." The '07 Pats were supposed to cream the Jets in that season's second meeting for Camerapositiongate but that win was hardly a massacre.

The Simpsons were in Boston last night. It was legitimately funny and the deflategate, Brady, and Belichick stuff was handled really well and even handed. I think there was a subtle shot at Harbaugh, too.

I highly recommend seeking it out.

You always gotta covah the mascot!
Boston's own Bill Burr! Seriously, there were about 50 unique Boston references in the episode. Maybe more. It was excellent.

edit - worth mentioning that the guy who wrote the episode, Dave King, went to Harvard and is of Fire Joe Morgan and Parks and Recreation fame.

I couldn't figure out the Larry Bird statue with the middle finger sticking up but it looked like the hand was backward from how you give the finger. Google can't help me find a picture of it.

Pretty sure he was just giving the number one salute; which I believe he did after he beat Dale Ellis in the 3 Point Contest.

You're probably right. Wish I'd recorded it. They nailed all the Boston stuff except Gronk looked like a sloppy lineman instead of a chiseled tight end.
