And Minnesota won a late game last night after this was posted.

Every team has at least 5 more wins than the Nets.

The Nets have less than 5 wins over their last 32 games.

Still a 4 game lead in wins which is about 1/4 season for Brooklyn. The key is not sweeping Miami in their remaining games.

How do you give up 140 to the Nets at home? Holy shit. Poor Anthony Davis will never win anything.

this is going to be so disappointing when the nets finish with the worst record and we nab the 3rd pick in the draft.
Fultz is 1A but everybody else the C's will be in position to take is a 1B, or close enough to it. Not gonna sweat it.

It may not be a huge dropoff this year but next season when the Nets still figure to have the worst record with the prize being DeAndre Ayton it could be a franchise changer for the team who gets him at #1. I'll take the 5th pick this year if you told me we'd be #1 in 2018.......although if we're picking 3rd-5th it will be a long year waiting.

The beauty here is that the Nets have little means to even keep up with the teams they are chasing to get out of the basement next year. No FA of worth wants to play there.....they couldn't even steal away Allen Crabbe (4/$72m) or Tyler Johnson (4/$50m) away on offer sheets, they have no draft picks to trade anytime soon, and no players of real trade value (Lopez marginal). It's a wonderful feeling knowing we are going to head into the lottery with the most balls each of the next two summers. Sick.

Standings after 1/22:

BRK --- (43 games played)
MIA -4.5 (44)
LAL -4.5 (48)
PHX -5.5 (44)
DAL -5.5 (44)

BRK plays SA (Mon), MIA (Wed), @CLE (Fri), @MIN (Sat), @MIA (Mon) over the next eight days. Obviously, the two MIA games are critical to overall draft position.

I don't think anyone but the heat has any chance in catching the nets but I do think the Lakers, given the pick is again top three protected, have some good reasons to tank despite all their tough talk.

Of course I think they well be third which for a top three protected pick is squeaky bum time. I mean giving the sixers the 4th pick in this draft would burn.
I love btw that because the Lakers have lied about their tanking no one cares.

Another team to have an eye on is the kings with gay done for the year they, like the pelicans, are an injury or in their case a boogie meltdown from being as bad as anyone.

Or Boogie trade. Thing is, all these teams already have a 6-7 game cushion on the Nets. The Nets are clearly the worst team.

Lin reaggravated his hammy and will miss another 3-5 weeks, which probably means at least 5 weeks. Even after that he's probably on a minutes restriction the rest of the way.

Plus, the Nets really should trade Brook if they can get a 1st in either 2017 or 2018. Without him, it's hard to see them getting to 15 wins.

Doncic is looking like a really nice consolation price for Ayton next year. What he's doing at Real as a 17 year old is crazy.

Nets are a lock for worst record at this point imo
The Miami-Brooklyn matchups coming up are suddenly far less interesting. Miami have won four straight, with three over Houston, Milwaukee and now GS. Even if they just take 1 out of 3 over the Nets, the lead is safe.

The Lakers and Heat are tied for 2nd worst record. Things could get interesting if the 8th seed in the West only takes 34 wins. Right now the difference between being in the playoffs in the West and being the "2nd pick" in the draft is 4 1/2 games. A win or two could mean the difference between pick 4 and pick 8. Luckily, the Nets really suck.

Amazingly the Nets are likely to be this bad again next year, or worse relative to the rest of the league.

Last year I cared more about Nets losses than Celtics wins. The same is still true this year, but less so knowing that every C's win hurts the Nets for next year.
