Dead ball penalty just means the player was down. The nanosecond the QB is ruled down its first down for Duke. Everything after that just affects where Duke gets the ball.Very clearly correctly enforced.

It’s different in the NFL, where “live ball fouls” can occur after the ball is dead. In NCAA live ball fouls have to be when the ball is live and everything else is dead ball.

So a 4th down late hit out of bounds would work the same way? Seems like a bit of a weird rule.

My little sister is a senior at Duke, getting ready to charge the field. I don’t pay much attention to college football but this is awesome
