I can't speak to the NBA- I don't watch and don't care.

Kane knocked the ball out of his own reach. He couldn't score a goal. If the ball had been within range, was that enough contact to reasonably bring him down to prevent him from scoring? Absolutely not. He felt contact, shut his legs off and went down to gain an advantage. It's a dive.

Players get higher levels of contact all the time in the box. If the touch Kane sustained is sufficient to earn a penalty, every single time players meet in the box there has to be a penalty given.

Whether Kane could score goes to whether the foul justifies a red card for denying a goal-scoring opportunity, not to whether it was a foul at all.

Players do not frequently get higher levels of contact in the box to their legs by defenders who have committed to challenges but get nowhere near the ball. When that happens, a penalty is usually and correctly given.

I agree with you on Kane

Harden can score 60 a game so his antics in an NBA game don’t matter (or at least nearly as much and why would one want to encourage that behavior?). Goals in soccer are so much more impactful.

Messi steps over that dive from the goaltender every time to try and score the goal. Kane is falling down and dragging his legs at or possibly before the keeper even touches him. Imo it’s fairly obvious when a player is trying to stay up or not.. it felt like cynical football to me.
