So my boys, 4 and almost 6, want to get into hockey and join a learn to play program. I decided to sign them up and head out to a game with them to try to peak their excitement. Our local small college is the only rink around a two hour radius here in va. We head out and enjoy a rather high scoring game enjoyed from first row glass seats. With about 10 seconds left we're standing to cheer on the victory when the home team slaps one into the glass and finds a gap and in turn rockets into my head just above my temple. I think it was a gap at the away team ice door towards the locker room. After the e.r visit my kids informed me that the best part of the game was getting the souvenir puck

yeah. very lucky. hurt like hell but just glad it wasn't my kids who caught it or the little kid or mother behind me who likely would have gotten hit if not for my large melon. Though it did hit the mom behind me on the elbow after it deflected off my head.
