If Manziel gets a job before Kaepernick that’d be absurd.
You following the Eric Reid developments, or lack of same? He could be done/done too.

Huge segments of the NFL fan base cold cocked the owners over the anthem business, beat the owners’ asses in a way fans never had before. Owners are now acting with extreme prejudice.

It is absurd; it’s also business.

What the hell does "cold clocked" mean... And how did they "beat their asses"?

I would LOVE Manziel on a cheap 3 year deal with incentives, something like that. He is a very good player if he can keep it together.
Turning Manziel into a useful piece would be the trolliest thing the Pats could ever do. I want them to try just to see the reactions.

Ratings were down a bit but not that much and it’s hard to attribute to the anthem stuff, one side or another or both.
It’s more than a little, and the anthem stuff ranks 1.

https://www.google.com/amp/s/www.broadcastingcable.com/.amp/news/ubs-survey-anthem-protests-top-reasons-nfl-ratings-declines-171585

But you don’t need recent surveys by UBS Securities. The NFL owners agreed to pay more than 90 million dollars into a players’ social concerns fund. Knowing what you know about NFL owners, why is that?

Knowing what you know about NFL owners, why is it that Kap likely will never play again? As you noted, it is insane that Manziel would get a shot but Kap not.

So why the group boycott — or, more charitably, 32 unilateral and uncoordinated decisions not to give Kap a chance?

Does anyone really think the 32 owners are mortified personally by the kneeling? If so, why did they abide the kneeling so long? Why did they initially stand with the players against Trump —But then back off?

There won’t be much kneeling next year. That you can pretty much take to the bank. And it’s not because the point has been made — the point was made in 2016 too. It’s because a very significant portion of the NFL’s fan base is livid, and they have taken it out on the owners, who will not tolerate the protests any longer.

The $90 payment was a fig leaf so the players would stand down. Everyone saves a little face and the issue goes away.

My side lost. Book it.

Why is that? Because they're taking that money away from previous charitable commitments.

Aaron Donald held out for a contract extension into the season last year, and he is still waiting for one. He got paid ~$3M last year, and ~$6M this year, so the Rams were able to add Ndamukong Suh at $14M for this year, wait and see what the Raiders give Khalil Mack, and give Donald a comparable deal for next year.

Has OBJ passed a physical? Until he does, they can do all the posturing and color commentary they like, it means nothing.

Eric Reid lost his job to Jaquiski Tartt. Tartt and Jimmie Ward had arm injuries last year, and the 49ers have to decide whether or not they are going to commit to them long term. The 49ers had no interest in committing to Reid long term, and they would have had to tag him for ~$10M (Franchise Tag deadline passed) as a projected backup?

Were the stands empty? Did beer sales drop?

Exactly how did these false patriots “cold cock[ed]” and “beat the owners asses.”

Yeah, the Reid case is interesting. If he doesn't get a contract at all before the season, something is up. But, that he's not signed at this point, isn't cause to claim blackballing yet.

The 49ers had three other starting safeties, so they didn't re-sign him. But they did sign Sherman, who knelled, and re-signed Goodwin, who also knelled as well as continue to have Eli Harold on the roster, who knelled with Kap from the beginning.

I think what happens after the draft with Reid will be telling, though I do think it's clear he's at least lost some money because of this.

Well, that's a ringing endorsement. Three times over, even.

Belichick absolutely loves this shit!! Why not also bring in Kaepernick to troll every team, owner and Goodell?

The #Patriots are taking a look at one of the sleepers of the free agent class: #Giants RB Orleans Darkwa is visiting New England today, source said. Would be an intriguing addition, especially after Dion Lewis left in free agency.

Anyone think the Pats take advantage of the glut of available safeties prior to the draft? With McCourty and Chung in hand, I would be surprised to see them spend on a third safety, but then again Safety seems like a position they could draft players at, mainly due to the age of their current players. I'm not sure why the safeties are going unsigned in free agency but I like it when Belichick bucks the conventional thinking and I like it when he addresses a potential hole through free agency prior to the draft.
