Well, I could see Gronk retiring if he doesn't get traded. I personally think he should retire due to the concussions but maybe he wants to play one more year, maybe on a bad team just so he gets paid one last time.

Gronk for Clowney and then a Suh signing. No more defense whining but Brady may choke someone.

"I wouldn't rule out a trade" is about as non-committal as you get. Every off-season there's a couple media members and some fans discussing the possibility.

I don't think it will happen but I also wouldn't classify it as insane.

Trading Gronk would surprise me, but not shock me. Trading Gronk for a measly return would shock me, however.

Brady? It ain't happening. Kraft has said as much. End. Of. Story.

Sure, it's the Patriots. But as I understand, it was simply the reporter talking, it wasn't like he said "NFL sources have said..." or "a Patriots official stated..."

Because they couldn't afford him without trading Brady which they weren't going to do once they saw how well he was playing.
The Patriots have had an unprecedented run of success in part because they do a very good job of balancing current seasons with future seasons. There is a case to be made that:
1. Gronk may not have much time left
2. You can't trust he'll be healthy
3. You can win without him in the playoffs (as they did 2 years ago).

A downgrade at TE while improving elsewhere is very different than rolling the dice at QB. Not having Gronk would change how the offense works, but they've done it before.
In a vacuum this is true. Except the TE happens to be the best TE to ever play the game and is an unmatched weapon that is a nightmare for teams to scheme against. Not worth trading for a second rounder or whatever they would get. Especially since now you’ve committed long term to Brady.

I wouldn't rule out E5 Yaz giving a cleveland steamer to Tyrone Biggums live on national television.

I consider it more likely than Gronk getting traded for something less than a king's ransom. Gronk has very publicly announced he's returning in 2018. Absent new developments, we ought to take him at his word.

Seahawks signed Barkevious Mingo. I know nothing about him. Good addition?

Well, they shouldn't have to pay out those Pro Bowl incentives. He got $2.5M last year and didn't do shit. Why he deserves more this year, I have no idea. And he's been a 3-4 LB in the past, not sure how he fits as a 4-3 DE.

John and/or Pete get hard-ons for certain guys sometimes with great tools but never put it together on the field. It's frustrating. Guys still have to produce.

Jonathan Casillas is visiting Foxboro today. Maybe that’s the old friend Garofolo was referring to.
"In 2016, Casillas played in all 16 games with 15 starts, recording a career-high 96 tackles.

In 2017, Casillas started eight games before being placed on injured reserve on December 6, 2017 after battling wrist and neck injuries."

Never saw one sentence kill a mini-boomlet for a player here like that Russini tweet about Suh.

Remarkable honesty. When he signed with Miami, he said it was primarily because they offered the most money.

Rapoport tweeting Crabtree likely to be released if Raiders complete a deal with Jordy Nelson. Has a $7.7mn cap hit, but unless the money is way lower on Jordy, that feels like a big downgrade to me...

Mike Pouncey requesting his release and Dolphins will grant it. He's a free agent.

Pouncey looked cooked last year. He played 16 games, but a huge part of that is Gase basically gave him the week off between games last year.

Pouncey apparently asked for an extension and more money.

Hmmm Crabtree a Texas Tech alum along with Welker and Amendola....indeed was a teammate of Amendola while there under same coaching staff. Wonder if it can translate?

All the usual caveats, but profootballfocus.com really liked Jason McCourty last season. They graded him out as the 27th best corner in the league last season. This signing would make a ton of sense.

Browns are releasing Jason McCourty. Wonder if this is the time for a D-Mac/J-Mac pairing.
Talking about being wired to play together - I say add him for depth if nothing else.

Also have to figure playing with his twin brother gives some kind of quality multiplier. Or at least somewhat indicative he'll fit well into the system.

McCourt was only due $3M this season. Not having watched then it seems surprising to me he was cut. Not like the browns are tight on cap space

Everyone seems confused by it. Though this is a team with Hue Jackson as coach and Gregg Williams as D coordinator, so good decision making is unlikely

Ian Rapoport says it's done:

"The #Browns have traded Jason McCourty to his brother Devin McCourty and the Patriots… They are swapping 6th and 7th round picks this year."

Edit: Was beaten by a long mile by BSJ

I know Twitter's not the place to find the best writing sometimes, but am I the only one who thought this made it sound like Devin was the new GM or something?

If you get a chance, try to find the Jeremy Schaap interview with Thomas where he tries to figure out all the quarterbacks he's blocked for.
I'm pretty sure that a record of all the Browns' QBs that he blocked for would require an Oracle database. I can forgive him for forgetting three dozen or so.
