Better for tonight to happen in Game 2 of Round 1, up 1-0, than in Game 7 of the SCF like it happened v. the Blues.

Didn’t see the game and am looking at the box score. It says the Bruins had 60 (!) minutes in penalties and 10 penalties. But the Panthers only had 3 power plays. How is that possible?

Seriously though, so much of this teams success was because of the play of McAvoy, Lindholm, and Orlov on the back end, and Pastrnak up front. When they’re all turning the puck over and playing as bad as they did tonight, they aren’t going to win too many playoff games.

All kinds of ugly. The McAvoy-Orlov pairing had a tough night, but all 6 D made bad decisions and coughed up the puck way too much. I don‘t know how they’re going to tighten up but they have to. Sure hope Bergeron is ready to go Friday.

Lots of late 10-minute misconducts (Forbort, Foligno, Hathaway, Frederic and Bertuzzi). They don’t affect manpower. Tack on the fact that two of Bertuzzi’s minors were matched by the Panthers and there you go.

I see five misconduct penalties I think on Boston. But that leaves a bunch more 2 minute penalties.

Anyway, doesn’t matter. Seems pretty clear that through two games Florida has been the better team, yes? Not such a good thing.

Sit either Krejci or Foligno if Bergy is back.
Marchand-Bergeron-DeBrusk
Bertuzzi-Zacha-Pasta
Frederic-Coyle-Hall
Foligno-Nosek-Hathaway

or
Marchand-Bergeron-DeBrusk
Zacha-Krejci-Pasta
Hall-Coyle-Bertuzzi
Frederic-Nosek-Hathaway

We’ll see what this team is made of. Think we all knew they were not going to steamroll the playoff field. I had bruins in 6 to begin the series and I’ll stand by that.

Top 4 D looked terrible, they're having trouble breaking out and dealing with a heavy forecheck, so they played their worst puck moving defenseman with a month and a half of rust, and were giving PP1 time to a forward who probably shouldn't even be playing, also with a month plus of rust.

Play your best players.

It really is maddening. Hopefully we’ll get some lineup changes in game 3.

He is not going to sit Krejci.

But will he go with Swayman?

Swayman was the goalie in the 5-2 loss down there, and gave up a few soft-ish goals.

Here
The 5-2 loss, I believe the Power Plays were something like 7-2. I remember one game in FL was the worst officiated game of the year and left them no shot.

They are playing tight. Monty said it after Game 1 and said they played nervously in the 3rd period tonight. The stress of this perfect season and being the overwhelming favorite to win the Cup is causing them problems. They better figure it out because that pressure is not going away.

No modern team has ever gone through the SC playoffs without losing once or twice at least. Hopefully this shakes this team up - they are better than this garbage.

The Panthers are playing ridiculously aggressively. It is something that works sometimes but is a high-risk strategy. Let's see if they can keep walking that tightrope for an entire series. There is a reason this is not a common strategy in the NHL. The B's just need to make the smart simple play and will burn the Panthers more often than they get burnt.

I don’t think they need to make system adjustments. They need their top guys to stop falling down, losing the puck off their sticks, and passing to no one. They’re either all sick, or they’re choking. Either way, they gotta get over it quick before they get bounced.

Pasta's giant whiff at 2-2 would have changed the rest of the game dynamics as well.

That and Krejci denting the crossbar on a shot that Lyon never saw. There were obviously some horrible turnovers, but I keep coming back to the missed opportunities during the stretches when the Bs dominated possession and had the Panthers on their heels.

if this mother fucker doesn’t start the game thread soon I’m stepping up.

We need to forget this bullshit game 2 and start getting excited for game 3.
Do it. He was around earlier this morning and didn't do it. Despite his good run earlier in the year, it's a bad omen to have the game thread started by someone whose heart/head clearly isn't into it.

EDIT: We can save Dummy Hoy for if/when we really need a win.

If the Bruins lose tonight my concern level ratchets up by an order of magnitude. But if they win I will be feeling pretty comfortable.

In other words…. HUGE game tonight.
