getting more from Comcast

I have a landline and 20Mbps DSL through a local company in Manchester NH that was recently bought by a company in NY state. The lines were leased from FairPoint. Thursday I lost my phone and internet and FairPoint still hasn't made any effort to restore service.

I've been a Comcast basic HD customer for over 6 years. What is the best way to get the best deal from them that includes internet? Thanks

Yeah, that is a big part of the problem but I don't pay them and I don't have any pressure to exert against them.

Just learned that my building has a Comcast rep.

In the meantime, FairPoint got around to sending a technician over this afternoon who said that the problem was that they disconnected my phone at the central office. A few hours later the phone started ringing, with people trying to call a church, i.e., they reconnected it to the wrong number.
