deep inside Guido territory
A lot of work is being done on the upper concourse to create a better fan experience. There's renderings of the upgrades in the link I posted. Below is a description of what they are in the process of doing.

Adjacent to the Super Bowl banners will be a full-service bar with a roof canopy which, according to a brochure sent to season ticket holders, “will be a welcome amenity for fans on those quintessential New England game days.”

Covered space will also be available at the landing for each of the four corners of the stadium. Large garage-style doors will be open or closed depending on the weather, to either let sunlight in or protect fans from the elements.

A 10-inch wide rail for food and drinks will encircle the concourse, “providing infinite locations to gather overlook the playing field.”

According to the pictures in the article, looks like my brother's seats weren't removed for handicap seating but for larger beer stands area:

Seems weird to rip out rows of seats to provide another place for people to stand and drink.

Our seats were the last row right at the bottom of the stairs. Loved the seats since you had no one behind you and could stand without the wine and cheese crowd getting upset and you could hope over the chairs to get in and out. Oh well.
