Noel wasn't a draft day trade. So while they did end up with him, I wouldn't exactly say they had the 6th pick :)
He was.

Noel entered the 2013 NBA draft after playing one season at the University of Kentucky and was projected to be one of the top picks, with many considering Noel the favorite to be picked first in the draft.[12][13] He was invited to sit in the "green room", a room of the projected top 10–15 collegiate basketball players during the draft and ended up being selected with the sixth overall pick by the New Orleans Pelicans. There were possible concerns around the league about his torn left ACL knee, which may have caused him to slide down, thus not being taken earlier.[12][14] It was announced later that night, that Noel's draft rights were to be traded, along with a 2014 first round pick to the Philadelphia 76ers in exchange for guard Jrue Holiday and the draft rights to Pierre Jackson.[15]
While they may not have 'had the pick' when it was made, it's clear the pick was made for them by the Pelicans. NBA doesn't allow swaps day of draft and teams often pick for someone they are trading with. For all intents and purposes, they had the 6 pick.

Similar to the article a few weeks ago, I got the sense that some of the Utah stuff was a bit awkward.

Woj: how amazing is Riley?

Hayward: uh seemed great? My agent kept pushing for Miami

Woj: no really he's amazing right?

Hayward: yes sure ....

Woj: I'm best friends with your agent and Riley so I want to know why you didn't sign with the Heat

Hayward: uh... sure. It was great...

Woj: they were super impressive

Hayward:......

Unless I misheard him, when he said he talked to his agent on 7/4 he said his agent laid out the Utah and Boston spiels again.

Fuck Pat Riley.

That's accurate - it was clear too that his agent was pushing Miami.

Also, Hayward said the Utah stuff was awkward - sounded like some cringe worthy stuff - like that girl you are breaking up with making a desperate plea to stay together.

That's what she said.
I didn't really get the awkward stuff concerning Utah. Besides when he was a RFA and had to get his max from a different team. Which he said only left a bad taste in his mouth for a year afterwards.

He seems very calculated, rarely sounding sincere about his answers, somewhat naive at times. "We'll still be friends..." about Quinn Snyder. Maybe I'm reading into it, but also said that Pat Riley "seems like a real family guy." Maybe its my loathing of Pat Riley, but I think the opposite. However I have nothing to base that on, just the Celtics fan in me.

Said "putting on the Celtics jersey and going for number 18 was the most important reason." for signing with Boston. And he said something else which seemed like it was a forgone conclusion that he was leaving Utah all along, his tense and "matter of fact" verbiage.
