This series of tweets from Pete Abraham indicates the situation is more concerning than originally thought

Brock Holt saw a head trauma specialist yesterday. Recommendation was to shut down from playing for the foreseeable future.

In talking to some Sox people, the concern with Holt goes beyond baseball. They need to make sure he’s OK in terms of just everyday life.

Good news with Holt is his doc, Michael Collins at UPitt Medical Center, is one of the top guys in the country. He’s getting top-notch care.

Ugh, this sucks. I'm glad he is getting good care, and that the Sox seem to be in the right camp on this one (concerned more for his livelyhood than his return), but I feel awful for Brock. I hope he gets to make a full recovery.

Cross posting from the game thread, Doctor Michael Collins at the University of Pittsburgh, mentioned as treating Brock, is the one who treated David Ross when he was having a really bad time. Happy outcome there. He also treated Mike Matheny when he was catching for the Giants, and Mike never returned to catching. Of course, Mike has been managing the Cardinals since 2012. Dr. Collins and Pitt seem to be the best for treating concussions. Get through this please, Brock.

Well, thats not good. Wishing Brock the best. I always enjoyed watching him play and an hoping to see him soon. Having a good Doc does not ensure good results, but its better than the alternative.

Terrible, hope he can recover. He's been such a bright spot in a couple dark years.
