Is it too soon to discuss Ed-Ro?

deep inside Guido territory
Evan Drellich via sources says ERod will rest 3-4 weeks then resume baseball activities. It doesn't sound great though as they say surgery is still possible if this doesn't work. If it happens again, he says surgery will happen and it is a 5-6 month recovery. I wouldn't expect ERod back on a major league mound until August.

he should get surgery as soon as the season is over even if it doesn't happen again.

honestly it wouldn't surprise me if he randomly displaced it and THAT'S why he fell on the mound.

Yes, but at this point isn't the expected performance of Price > EdRo?
Not the way E-Rod was pitching before the injury. He give up four runs in his first start and never more than three in his next eight. He was the pitcher we all thought and hoped he would be.

That's not the point. We were on the cusp of:
#1 Chris Sale (top 3 #1 this year)
#2 David Price (potentially top 5 #2)
#3 Rick Porcello (well above average for a #3)
#4 Eduardo Rodriguez (breakout season = top 5 #4)
#5 Drew Pomeranz (looks like he's figured it out and is a top 5 #5)

All told a stunningly good starting 5. Let's hope the silver lining is that BJ takes advantage of his chance to shine and we find out that we're 6 deep now with quality SPs.

One thing I can pretty sure of is that throwing 100 pitches after he fell was really stupid. With his medical history, and coming on the heels of Syndergaard's fiasco last month, they should have been more cautious. Guys are always gonna say they're fine. You don't get to be a pro athlete by refusing to play.

Are we expecting Sale on Friday and the replacement on Saturday, or vice versa?

Maybe, but Price and EdRo is certainly better than Price and Johnson, right?
Most likely, unless Johnson is one of those guys who always outperforms his peripherals and channels his inner Barry Zito. He's posted an era under 3 in all of his minor league stints with significant playing time minus last year. Considering what happened to him last year, 2016 could be considered a lost season. Despite not having the greatest of stuff, he still gets his fair share of strikes out and has amazing results.
