Hey @Sparky Lyle -- just pause the TV broadcast until the Radio one is synced. It isn't always easy, but it is do-able. Try using 'landmark' plays to sync, such as puck drops, shots on goal, etc.

Yep, that's the way. I sometimes try to do that at the kickoff of Pats games. The problem is that it's hard to be dead on perfect and not uncommon to be slightly off.

But I admit it, I love Jack. One, he's a homer, and having grown up on Johnny Most, I love homers. Two, his unbridled enthusiasm and corny lines are fun for me. Last, I will always love him for his moronic but still endearing poetic farewell to the Habs after the Bruins sent them home in the playoffs.

Editorializing Jack is an a-hole. But his play-by-play is among the best in the business. You only have to start listening to some other TV broadcasters around the league to realize how good he is.

I like Jack, but I also don't take the announcers too seriously. I watch what's happening, the announcers are just background noise.
This right here. Somehow my brain has developed the knack for only hearing player names in those instances when it is tough to see who has the puck, and filtering out all the rest.

+1.

One of the more difficult and underrated parts of announcing hockey games is the ability to get the names of the opponents correct, and Jack Edwards is very good at that. He always knows who has the puck, and mentions it in real time.

I've also heard him talk about strategy in a talk radio interview (can't recall which station). In response to a question, he quickly delved into a fairly detailed discussion on the importance of controlling the half wall during the power play, what teams do to accomplish that, what the penalty killers try to do, etc.

OK, his homerism can be over the top, especially when there's a fight. But that seems to be a pretty minor price to pay, as it can be easily tuned out.
