Edelman carted off during the 1st half of tonight's PS game vs. Lions.

Non-contact injury as he went down after planting his leg to make a cut, ala Dion Lewis style. Not looking good but no real update yet.

Belichick with the expected "I don't know" when asked about the injury during halftime.

No, not embedding the video NOR quoting Dr. Chao.

It didnt look horrible to me. It gave out a little, but he was up quick and walked it off quick. I'd expect a little more hesitancy and tentativeness from him if it was the ACL.

As a non-doctor, but someone who has watched footall before, I'd say he tweaked his knee, but avoided major injury. He's on the shelf until week 1.

From your lips ....

Man, we can survive it but it makes the year much less fun if he's out.

I want your post to be part of that 18% but from a non-non-doctor Jessica Flynn:
As Edelman plants his right foot, you can see it buckle into what we call a “valgus” position, where the right knee bends inward. The fact that this is a non-contact buckling injury in this position makes me very concerned that the anterior cruciate ligament (ACL) was stressed and possibly injured.

After Edelman feels his knee buckle, he visibly hops to avoid putting that knee back down on the ground. Often athletes can feel a palpable “pop” when the ligament tears. I don’t expect to see Edelman back on the field tonight. There is a chance that he simply has a mild sprain to the ACL and MCL.

Best case: Edelman’s hamstrings and core stabilized his knee enough to spare his ACL from tearing. In that case, I would still expect that it was sprained. Worst case: Brady’s favorite target has a full-thickness ACL tear and will be sidelined for 8-12 months as he recovers from ACL reconstructive surgery.

As great as Edelman is, this team is uniquely suited to fill his shoes if it comes to that. Amendola slots in very well, Cooks could play inside a bit more with Mitchell and Hogan outside, and Carr maybe makes the roster in the back-up role. It would be sad, and the team would be worse, but this team is loaded behind Julian.

So pissed that we may not get to watch Cooks/Edelman run circles around secondaries. Hoping for a 6-8 week sprain but fully expecting a ligament tear.

This kind of crap always reminds me of when Garin Veris and two other key D guys when out in the last preseason game whenever that atrocity happened.

My untrained eyes are crying. Love the Julian....

I have no idea, but it didn't look like your typical ACL tear with the way he sort of jogged off the field. I'm guessing (hoping?) a sprain.

Would hate to see him have to try to come back to being a top slot receiver at age 32 after a a major ligament tear...

Andre Tippett and Ronnie Lippett were the other two, which ended the season before it began.

He follows up and says 6-8 weeks is best case but more likely he's gone for the year.
Huh, if he healed for nearly four months you could still bring him back Week 14. Surprised the default for that type of injury would be out for the year, considering his value, particularly come playoff time.

Right. I believe if surgery is needed,it would be the year.
I was just reading that that part of the meniscus has blood supply and is capable of healing on its own, whereas other parts do not and require surgery.

Trying to hold onto some semblance of hope, here.

Yeah, defensive lineman, linebacker, and cornerback all wiped out in the preseason game. Once was enough for that kind of crap.

Is his twitter handle private? Isn't the point of twitter that the public can see what you tweet?

Not good. WHERE IS THE LORD OF LIGHT I BEG YOU.

@MarkDanielsPJ
Source tells me that Julian Edelman will undergo tests tomorrow in order to officially diagnosis what happened to his knee.

Thank god they went out and got Cooks. Shitty news on Jules but it's by far the deepest position on the roster at least
