Miguel Montero expressed a lot of frustration with Jake Arrieta's slow delivery to the plate in postgame comments. #Cubs

Montero said it's unfortunate the stats will say he was 0-for-7 on stolen base attempts when Arrieta's delivery gives him no chance to throw

Montero: Arrieta's slow delivery is something that's been brought up in spring training, but appears there's no urgency to fix it.

Montero: "It really sucks because the SBs go on me. When you really look at it, the pitcher doesn't give me any time."

Hah! I was at that game last night. Nats were in fact stealing at will. I didn't notice Arrieta's slow delivery but did notice him late to cover first on a grounder to the right side resulting in a single by Brian Goodwin. Clear fault on that one.

But I wouldn't be surprised to see Montero DFA'd or just flat out released within the next week. You never throw your own teammate under the bus like that...

also, montero is going to have a hard time throwing out trea turner, no matter how fast the pitcher is to the plate.

edit: one of michael taylor's SB was on a ball montero threw into LF. Hard to blame Arrieta for that one.

I was disappointed they didn't award Scherzer a SB on that play, he went 1st to 2nd on the error, I guess, not a double steal.

I think it's safe to say Montero is kind of an ass. Not that Trevor Bauer hasn't rubbed a few others the wrong way, but Montero was all too happy to publicly trash the 21-year-old rookie who had pitched all of 4 major league games the instant the D-Backs traded Bauer a few years ago.

Wasn't Montero once a young catcher many posters here wanted to give up prospects for? This was when Varitek was declining and Vazquez/Swihart were far off methinks.

The Astros' PBP guy sounds like a used car salesman, totally phony sounding. He probably developed that voice trying to sell the Disastros to Houston for many years prior to their resurgence.

If Andy Green is somehow employed by the Padres when they next visit the Red Sox, I suspect he is going to hear it from the crowd at Fenway. Gods don't answer to AAAA players who never had a pivotal role in winning a championship.

Mallex Smith on TB is crazy fast. He was just on first base and off with the pitch, Longoria singled up the middle and Smith never stopped running and beat the throw home.
