I'll never understand this stupidity in the age of Uber, and when these guys have enough money to hire a driver in a sweet car to follow them around the whole night.

Surprised Oliver didn't come back to book Diouf after his challenge on Origi (and his earlier studs-up on Wijnaldum)

A burner so far, but 'Pool looking more assured since the goal and Mane staying out wide.

And as I write - Firmino in off 2 posts! While Origi is down on the pitch.

They've got to keep the pressure on. Stoke has come to play and there will be many more counter attempts. Clyne is finding space ahead of him now that Mane is staying wide. Clyne needs to be careful not to let anyone get in behind him on a counter.

California. Duh.
It wasn't the shootout neutrals were hoping for, but I find it encouraging that they were able to play disciplined defense with a lead against a dangerous opponent for 80-plus minutes.

43 points at the halfway mark is Liverpool's best record in the Premier League era.

Yep .. They never gave City a sniff of the net. I would say the only times City looked even remotely dangerous were on unforced giveaways. Firmino .. despite a pretty good overall game was guilty of a couple of those.

It also helped that Milner made Stirling look like a school boy. He really has turned into a great - if unorthodox - LB.

The Old Man knocked the Young'un on his ass in the first minute and pushed him around for the rest of the match. Sterling has been around so long it's hard to remember he's only 22. He still has to get stronger and develop better tactical sense so that he can impact games beyond running at defenders. But at this point, I don't regret Liverpool selling him.

Also, props to Clyne for dealing very effectively with Silva today.

Klopp called Henderson's injury a pain in his heel, but not he same foot as last year's plantar faciatis. Here's hoping it's minor because the cover for Henderson is Can and Lucas. That's not a knock on Can, but the midfield is looking thin with Countinho still out and Mane heading to the ANC. Maybe Lucas shouldn't pack his bags yet.

Will be interesting to see how Moyes and Klopp set up their sides on Monday. Both teams will be on short rest, but Sunderland has sunk into 18th 2 points behind Palace...and Palace have a game in hand. Moyes has got to be looking to nick a point.

I feel there was something of an implied contract that Plymouth would be playing in argyle. I'm disappointed.

What's with the kit numbers for the premiere league sides? They're comical across the board this weekend.

For premier league games they have to use the font specified by the premier league. For other games, they are free to use any font they choose.

Eh, that one was Liverpool's best chance of the game (other than Ojo's muffed header early in the first half).

Lallana and Firmino coming on

Disagree. No keeper at this level is going to be beaten by that low shot. The keeper had it well covered.

Today's the first leg semi-final vs Southampton, and Klopp has sent out his recent first choice team but with Karius in goal and Sturridge in for Mane.

Starting XI: Karius, Clyne, Lovren, Klavan, Milner, Lucas, Can, Wijnaldum, Lallana, Firmino, Sturridge

I wouldn't be surprised to see this group starting on Sunday vs ManU, save for Mingolet in net.

Southampton's starters: Forster, Cédric, van Dijk, Yoshida, Bertrand, Clasie, Romeu, Davis, Tadić, Redmond, Rodriguez.

I don't follow the Saints that closely, but this definitely seems to be Puel's effort to balance defense (Clasie, Romeu, & Davis) with attack (Tadic, Redmond, & Rodriquez), much more so than back in November when Charlie Austin spent most of the day all alone up top. Funny to think that if Southampton do bring in Sakho to replace Fonte, he'd very likely start the second leg over Yoshida.

Coutinho sighting! He subs on just after 60 minutes for Wijnaldum, and it's Lallana who replaces Wijnaldum in the box-to-box role with Coutinho settling into Lallana's attacking spot.

Now to get a goal back...

Sturridge running around with the paper in his hand trying to show his teammates the instructions while the ball is in play has me laughing to the point of tears

Eh, down one goal heading home, and away goals don't count extra in this competition (until after the end of extra time of the second game). Still very winnable.

Today's did not make me eager for this weekend's trip with a streaking ManU. Last time round Mourinho had his boys play deep and defensively to good effect. I'm terrified imagining Lucas-Klavan-Lovren trying to deal with various combinations of ZATLAN-Pogba-Rashford-Martial-Mkhitaryan.

Karius follows up with a fantastic save on Graham Carey - after the referee got in the way of a Liverpool break
