Gonzaga really closes well.

I always think it’s weird when the tv guys choose to feature one particular team’s family member. Why is Marci Few so much more compelling than any other coaches’ spouse or family?

Put someone on the passer, Kelvin! That was like Saints-esque. Glad they had a guy in the paint to get the rebound with no time remaining

Yep, guy can't run the baseline you HAVE to put someone in his face there. And if you don't you can't let the first pass get to half court. Just terrible defense.

I've beat this drum all week but Sampson strikes again. Terrible situation coach. Pitino ('92) shrugs. Wow.

I can’t get over it. You had some moron in the paint playing free safety guarding nobody. There was 3.6 seconds and they were clearly going to take a 3. No rebound opportunities given the time.

And they let Mich get a bullet pass to halfcourt. Just epic fail for Houston. Of course, that dipshit missed 3 out of 4 FTs down the stretch.

I mean, that was a very low probability, highly contested shot that went in. If it missed, no one would have mentioned the bad defense.

A well-designed defense and Mich is getting some 40 foot runner as their attempt

Ok, also true. But as someone with no rooting interest in this game, that was a very exciting make.

Absolutely. I had no dog in this fight but get annoyed when coaches make these kinds of mistakes. Mich still could have found a way to win but nailing that first pass is much tougher with a 6’10 dude in your face.

Yup. With only 3.6 seconds left. Make the first pass extremely difficult. It's almost basketball 101 at this point.

In-game coaching in the college game is SOOOOO important and some of the biggest names are the absolute worst. Sampson, Roy and probably Self leading the way. Mind boggling it really is.

Agree with all of this.

Michigan had no ability to run the baseline (because it wasn’t after a made basket - it was a rebound and then a TO.) Not putting a man on him is a mind-bogglingly bad decision and is what allowed them to get the ball to Rahkman far enough upcourt that he could assess options and find Poole with an open shot.
