NCAA Tourney watch-Bursting Bubbles

MTSU loses in first round of CUSA tourney, meaning there's every chance the CUSA becomes a 2 bid league. Louisville, Notre Dame, Baylor and St. Mary's bubble got a bit more slippery.

Some bubble watch games--bubble teams want second team listed to win:

SMU vs. Cincy
VCU vs. URI
Alabama vs. Auburn
Georgia vs. Kentucky
Temple vs. Wichita St.
UCF vs. Houston

Lunardi still has Oklahoma and Louisville in, with Notre Dame out. I'd much rather see Notre Dame get a chance. They are a top 20 type of team when healthy.

I can't figure out how Oklahoma is even in discussion for the tourney at this point. I know they had a strong start to the year, but they have been complete garbage for the last 1 1/2 months. Notre Dame shouldn't be a lock, but they should absolutely be slotted ahead of Oklahoma on any bubble list.

I disagree, i don't think you can pro forma teams for injuries - that opens a whole can of worms. I think you need to judge teams on what they did.

I don't necessarily disagree, but when it comes to the bubble and a straight up comparison of say Louisville vs Oklahoma vs Notre Dame, I think it matters

And the committee has said that sometimes they do look at that. But it never seems consistent, so who knows?

VCU within 4 of URI late...not what bubble teams need.

EDIT: 8-1 URI run has pushed it out to 7 points, under 2 minutes.

Go VCU. I'm kind of in a "fuck the bubble teams" mood. I don't want to see OU, OK St, or Louisville in the dance. Not deserved.
I'm totally on board with this, although I also want ND out too (out of pure dislike, not that it's undeserved). VCU couldn't do it, but if Alabama can keep this up, that will help. I'm all for MTSU getting in, hope they don't get screwed by committee for a OU or OK St.

I am torn on MTSU. They are 0-3 vs. RPI top 50 and have only 4 top 100 wins. Yes product of their schedule. Yes they lost close to some good teams. Yes they will give someone a scare or maybe pull an upset. But not sure they earned their way in.

Yeah of course this is all true, and I guess you couldn't call it a snub if they are left out. More emotional than anything for me, I just like the team. I mean none of these teams are in the Final Four picture anyway, so I'd rather see MTSU get a shot than an Oklahoma team that's been playing nationally televised games all year and hasn't won away from home since December.

I agree if forced to choose I pick MTSU over Louisville, Syracuse, OK St, OU. The only team I can truly see making a deep run is Notre Dame.

Totally agreed. I am willing to admit I am not able to rationally evaluate Notre Dame due to dislike, but obviously their resume is not tournament quality, only the Colson adjustment gets them in. Colson is really great to watch with that midrange game and his defense can be fun (is it just me, or are his legs absurdly skinny for his size), so I guess I can't complain too much if they get in. Have to admit they have the best shot to win games, but if I never watch Matt Farrell play another meaningful game, I won't be disappointed.

100% on the same page, especially re: Colson and Farrell

With Kansas beating WV for the B12-2 title, it looks like they have solidified the #3 overall seed, #1 in Omaha, via Wichita.

UVA goes to Atlanta/South bracket, via Charlotte I think, or possibly Nashville.
Nova goes to Boston/East bracket via Pitt.

2 team race for 4th #1 seed between Duke or Xavier to out west-Staples regional, both likely going there. If Duke, to Charlotte, if Xavier, to Pitt, Detroit, or Nashville.

Outside shot for Purdue for #1, in theory, as they only have 2 bad losses, but I strongly doubt it. Looking like Nova bracket for them in Boston, via Detroit as the #2 seed.

Looks like Kansas 1 UNC 2 in Omaha so NCAA can get their Roygasm.

Cincy to Atlanta/UVA bracket via Pitt or Nashville.

My how, the WAC has fallen. New Mexico St and 7 teams that probably just got Div I eligibility in the last 5 years.
