I always thought the Air Force didn't exist until 1947, but when Bill Belichick says this:

As we know Belichick is all about the team, not one person is put in front of another he even connected it to this documentary saying “The Navy, Army, Air Force and Marines made one heck of a team in World War II.”
We may need to rewrite our history books.

More seriously, yes, I will be watching this.

"It's all about situational war-waging, guys. Launch the strike too late or too early, and those carriers are never sunk."

We may need to rewrite our history books.
Technically speaking it was the U.S. Army Air Force until 1947, but functionally during the war it was a separate service whose commanding general reported directly to the Army Chief of Staff, so the perception is understandable and similar to how the Marines are thought of as an autonomous branch and not as part of the U.S. Navy.

Lee When asked about the loss of Jackson- "We will fight the war with the troops we have on the field"

Always good to win a divisional game, especially on the road.
[on Pearl Harbor] "Well, sure. Last time, you know, they came to our place...we got beat, absolutely. They did some things, saw some things in our defense..."

"Well, look, The Americans have a tough bit coming up fighting the Italians. You know, their record might not reflect it, but the Italians have a really strong ground game, and you know, lots of history there. Lots of respect for everything those people have achieved. You know, the Roman Empire really invented organized, mix-unit tactics..."

From the article in the first post:

It started off with Malcolm Butler getting a movie made about his life, then came Brady getting one made about the last two years of his.
.... are they really making a movie about the last two years of Brady's life? How will they know what life is like in the year 2156 when President of the Universe Brady finally decides to abandon his nutrition and fitness regimen?

Does this make Rex Herman Goering?

"Can we not drop bombs whenever the fuck we want to? Let's make sure we fight like the fucking German military, and not some slapstick team. Do we understand what I want to see tomorrow? Let's go eat a goddamn snack."

Edited to say, this thread is absolutely glorious

Bradley: I do this job because I've been trained to. You do it because... you love it!

Just to clarify, although the Marine Corps is within the Department of the Navy, it is not part of the Navy. It is a separate and distinct military service.

Reporter: Bradley's been listed on the injury report every week as "questionable, infantry" since the beginning of the war, why is that?

BB: Look, I don't set the rules. You'll have to talk to the League of Nations about that.

I just hope that they show some footage of the intelligence guys at Pearl Harbor who figured out what "AF" meant, and they photoshop in "Pink Stripes" on their chalkboard.

(i should have first read the article that it was about D-Day...maybe instead when they go on about Patton's fake army, they'll find room for Pink Stripes. Or call it operation "Raven" or "Baltimore"

Despite the mission's obvious success, the second-guessers were out in force:

Why was General Manning constantly shouting "Omaha Beach" at his troops?
Was George Stevens filming the landing from an approved location?

"Coach, how did you feel about the team's celebration after toppling Iwo Jima?"

"We want the team more focused, to be honest. Showboating, taking pictures, putting up flags, all done before the war was over. I don't condone it and I'm going to talk to the team about it."

"But that picture could become iconic, a symbol of everything that was fought for."

"We're on to Okinawa."

Don't even get me started about John Harbaugh's discussion over the "deceptive tactics" used by the Ghost Army leading up to D-Day.

That was a hell of a good goal line stand at Bastogne I tell ya. If the Germans punch it in there, it might've been a whole different game....

Gotta figure Rommel is BB's WWII equivalent of Ed Reed.

"Just a ton of respect of how he goes about his business. Tactics, strategy, what he accomplished at Gazala. It's just a question of pretty much anything he's commanding, he's good at."
