A very poor man's Ramiro Mendoza. He hurt us when he played against us, then we got him and then he sucked. I'm expecting the draft to be more offensive than usual.

MYRTLE BEACH!!!!
I expected more. Never remember him having the catch issues we saw this year. But my sample size was limited to that game where he killed us. So it might be on me.

While this was never going to be Wes Welker v. 2.0, grabbing Chandler from a division opponent seemed like it would have a sizable payoff.

Chandler's cap hit was going to be $3mm in 2016 if they kept him. I assume they still take a $1mm hit by letting him go (he signed a 2-year deal with a $2mm signing bonus prior to last season).

I don't know if they'll upgrade the second TE spot, but they should be able to replace Chandler's meager production for less than $2mm.

Started out so promising, the 'twin towers' formation w he and Gronk split wide vs the Steelers...thought that would be a staple in the red zone all year.

This. I was so excited when they ran those formations -- and envisioned it being unstoppable with all of the options they could have had with RBs coming out of the backfield and Edelman running slants. 13 feet of beast TE coming at you -- didn't materialize unfortunately.

I felt exactly this way. Especially as Dion Lewis seemed to evolve more and more each week. There just seemed to be so many options that would enhance what we thought we would get from a Gronk/Chandler tandem. It seemed that there just wouldn't be enough defense to adequately cover everything that the Pats would present.

This doesn't really surprise me. As the season wore on it seemed that his running was labored and I think that affected his ability to catch the ball. Maybe it goes to concentration or maybe the ability to torque ever so little to get in better position.
