Bolden is probably in or very close to the Ebner/Slater camp at this point where his position doesnt really matter for roster construction.

He's already there. He had one rush and two pass receptions -- and 264 ST snaps -- last season

How many RBs can they carry/dress though? If they draft a guy or bring back Blount then someone has to be odd man out, I think. Unless it is someone like Richards.

Its not exactly the right question. Matt Slater doesnt effect how we view the Pats WR needs. Thinking of what it does to guys like Richards is more the right way to think about it.

I love this signing knowing nothing of the terms or his potential roster fit, purely on the fact that TB12 said "Brandon is one of the best teammates I've ever had. He's just so selfless."

That's all I need.

Great news. Special teams play likely has the largest ratio of importance to how fans recognize as important.

First read this as "Pats re-sign Brandon Browner" and was like whuuuut?

Bolden is a fantastic special teams player, and is useful at RB in a pinch.

Exactly. If you can have a guy who can give you something, even if only a little something as far as depth and be just a notch below All Pro for Special teams thats a win.
Bolden doesnt give much but can provide a smidge of RB help.
I consider Slater to give nothing else to the roster, but because he is a perennial all pro thats ok to.

Its when you have roster spots tied up in guys who arent difference makers on special teams AND cant provide anything to game day depth that your in trouble.

Even after all the big ST tackles he's had over the years, my enduring memory of Slater will forever be him emphatically calling "Heads" in the SB 51 OT. Thank you Matthew Slater for always calling heads. Thank you, Jackie Slater, for always calling heads and inspiring Matthew to always call heads.

No thanks to the ref for tossing heads?

That was EXACTLY what I did, but I started talking myself into it before I realized I had misread. "Yeah, maybe he's still got something left in the tank!!!"

I'm pathetic.

It is - inarguably and without question - the greatest heads call in the history of heads calls, going back to Jesus and the money lenders.

Slater is such a great player. Just a leader. Bruschi, Brown mold of great Patriot players whose leadership is somehow greater then even their onfield production. Even when that on field production is extremely high.

Back to Bolden.
