This story seemed too good not to share...

Would like to see video, if anyone is not as tired as I am and can post it!
Wow. Off "old friend" Matt Clement (one of the most painful pitchers to watch on the mound).
To me the most incredible thing about that Cora at bat was that the count never got to full despite all those pitches. Two balls, one called strike, fourteen fouls and the HR.

And I also don't remember Clement being all that painful to watch until it was obvious his shoulder was totally shredded, which was probably more the cause of his second half decline in 2005 than getting hit in the head in St Pete. In his four starts preceding the beaning, he threw 23 innings to the tune of an 8.61 ERA and a .911 OPS (post beaning: 11 starts, 63 IP, 4.86 ERA, .764 OPS).
To clarify, I thought that there might be video of Cora describing it to media giving pbp, etc. I've seen the actual thing before but enjoyed seeing it again.

Here is the video of him breaking down that AB

Anyone know when Chris Sale is expected to start pitching in spring training games? They really seem to be holding him back. Any word on his health?

This weekend. He pitched a simulated game a day or two ago, they are just trying to bring him along more slowly after all of the arm/shoulder fatigue last year. Apparently he is healthy and building arm strength, though one of the EEI guys mentioned that his velocity was 92-93 during the sim game, which certainly will get attention heading into April if he wasn't just going at 90% effort.

Ok that's helpful. I'd rather he go easy so he's at full strength when it matters most.

Considering Price and Eovaldi made their spring "debuts" in the last couple days and each went 3 innings, I don't see Sale's progress as all that slow and easy.

Seems like rather than have these guys starting games right out of the gate and only going one inning anyway, they're doing their first couple starts in simulated or minor league games so that even though they seem to be getting a late start, they're still right on target with what their progressions would have been 5 years ago.
