Oakland A’s starting pitcher Sean Manaea will undergo arthroscopic surgery on his left shoulder, the team announced Tuesday. The operation will take place on Sept. 19, which is a week from Wednesday.

Manaea has been on the disabled list for more than two weeks with tendinitis in his rotator cuff. The left-hander last pitched on Aug. 24. To that point he’d been the only member of Oakland’s beleaguered Opening Day rotation to make it through the whole season healthy, and he still leads the club by wide margins with 27 starts and 160⅔ ip. His no-hitter in April was one of the highlights of the year, which is saying something on a team that’s had more than its fair share of memorable moments.
