Barring a trade, I don't know why Jalen Beeks hasn't been seriously considered unless they see him as nothing more than a MR. He's going to have to be added to the 40 after this season anyway and he's definitely going to be protected.
I agree. I think Fister is getting a long leash because he's been a DD guy, but if he gets face caved in one more time, I would think Beeks gets a look at some point if not at least Velazquez. Though it doesn't seem like Price is going to be out that long.

At this point, isn't Hector Velazquez or Brian Johnson (if healthy) an upgrade over Fister? And they won't cost the team anything extra.
Johnson's been having shoulder trouble. I'm not sure he's available. But I'd definitely rather see Hector out there than Fister. He's actually done some okay work in short stints to preserve the pen during some of the extra innings games, but he clearly can't get through a lineup multiple times anymore.

The wrong side of the bridge....
Reed's flyball numbers this year are strange. Here's to hoping the transition to Fenway isn't a rough one.
"Strange" is a nice way to put it. He has a high FB%, 39.4% of his FB allowed are hit hard, and almost none of them are in the infield. At least he doesn't walk anybody, but altogether he sounds like the bullpen version of 2017 Rick Porcello. Fasten your seatbelts, folks.

Me, I was just hoping our long regional Trey Ball nightmare would finally be over.
He's been using a new arm slot in July to mixed results. In that time, Trey's had 2 really good starts. 7ip, 3h, 1er, 0bb/7k and 7ip, 8h, 3er, 1bb/7k. The problem is the 3 starts in between he went 9 innings total, giving up 25 hits, 16r, 11er, with 5bb/7k. He's shown better control for the most part since making the change though. Just had a few dud performances.

Maybe it's luck or maybe it's finding consistency with the new arm slot but if he has a few more good starts, I'm guessing the nightmare continues in 2018 too. I think his teammate Henry Owens would really have to show something the final month to not be converted to MR next year.

I just hope he stays healthy. Dombrowski has had some pretty bad luck with his reliever signings of Smith and Thornberg. If Reed goes down then it would qualify as a bona fide curse. Hopefully that won't happen..

Trades not signings.
Thornburg not Thornberg.

Other than that your point is terrible.

Robby Scott was sent down yesterday and Austin Maddox was brought up and he will certainly be the guy who gets sent down today.

My fondest Addison Reed memory is seeing him give up a walkoff to Cody Ross in what was probably the high-water mark of the Bobby V. era. Also saw Joan Rivers at that game.
I was at that game when I was younger. Never knew who the pitcher was.

I really like the deal, but some interesting stats to keep track of as he now becomes our 8th inning guy.
-88% LOB%. Bound to regress at some point, and not in the good way.
- His fastball pitch value was 17.9 last year, is only 3.3 this year. A little scary seeing as everyone was worried about Reed getting overworked by Collins this year.

He's an out and out upgrade in the 8th. Would love to see us keep his usage down so he can reclaim some of the stamina that seems to have hit him hard this year.
Where did you get this stat? The moment I saw him in sox uniform I thought his fastball looked meh. I don't feel he should be our 8th inning guy.

Fangraphs pitch value index. His usage over the past 3 years has definitely dogged him.
