So now that the season is over. I'm by no means a prospect exper but I figured it would be interesting to take a look at some of the prospects we have participating in the Arizona Fall League this year. If anyone has any better insight into some of these guys I'd love to hear it.

We have seven total players, 4 pitchers and three position players. As always, some are more worth watching than others. The players are:

Trey Ball LHP First round pick 2013. Had a better season in 2016 but still nothing special. Like Henry Owens, needs to work on cutting down the walks. Is this his last shot at pitching before trying his hand as a position player?

Jalen Beeks LHP Twelfth round 2014 pick. Pitched great in Salem before losing control in Portland. Pitched to a 1.44 whip between Salem and Portland.

Jamie Callahan RHP Second round pick 2012. Still relatively young at 22. Semi interesting strikeout numbers. Needs to cut down on the walks.

Michael Kopech RHP First round pick 2014. Our best pitching prospect. Fireballer that has missed a lot of development time the last two years from suspension and injury. Absolutely dominated upon returning but struggled toward the end of the season. Hopefully he will gain some much needed development in Arizona, paricularly working on his secondary offerings.

Mauricio Dubon SS 26th round 2013. In my eyes, probably the most improved prospect this year behind Moncada/Benintendi. Proved that we shouldn't miss Javier Guerra too much by slashing 323/379/461/840 between Salem and Portland with 31 doubles and 9 triples. Still doesnt show much in the way of power but has an advanced hit tool.

Danny Mars OF Sixth round 2014. Not considered a major prospect bu had a decent season hitting 293/353/401/754 in Salem. Hits for hardly any power with only two homers on the season.

Yoan Moncada 3B. International free agent. What more can be said about Yoan, our bery own Uber prospect. True 5 tool player has had a huge minor league career so far but showed he wasn't quite ready for primetime upon being promoted to Boston. Most likely going to work on playing 3B more than anything else. Does he start 2017 in Pawtucket or get traded in the offseason? He is off to a great start going 3-5 with a double and solo homer in his first game.

Great day for our Surprise Saguaro prospects - 3 shutout, 5 SO innings for Kopech, a great start after the bad way his season ended in Salem; 2 shutout innings for Ball; 2 hit games for both Dubon and Moncada; and Dubon expanding his versatility by playing CF

Trey Ball pitched 0.0ip 5bb, 5er facing 5 batters. 31 pitches, 11 for strikes yesterday.

On Friday, Kopech 3.0 ip, 7h, 2er, 1bb/3k

Wonder if Ball is injured, that's a shitshow of a line.

Moncada has a chance to be very, very good. But in AA, MLB and AFL, he has struck out in 34% of his plate appearances. Work to be done.

Told that Moncada is not necessarily shut down from further winter ball. But it’s most likely he next plays in spring training.

Yoan Moncada (sprained left thumb) is done at the Arizona Fall League. In six games he was 7 of 24 with 10 K. Should be ready for ST.

Caught the few innings that Kopech pitched in the all-star game and he was very impressive. Reportedly hit 100 a number of times although he pretty much sat at 94 his second inning of work, unless the radar readings they were posting were wrong. They might have been as hitters were completely overpowered by his fastball. He looked both poised and overpowering. All in all, a great year for him after what happened in 2015.
