The only issue for me is whether the head was the "principal point of contact". That's a pretty subjective standard, but the reverse-angle view of the hit seems sufficient to say that it was. If the NHL is saying that they're going to err on the side of over-enforcement rather than under-enforcement, for safety reasons,, I'm fine with that

Oshie better get a hearing for that late, leaving the feet hit into the boards on Letang as the ENG was going the other way.

Probably not a suspension, no way they'd have 2 Caps players suspended. He should have a lighter wallet though.

(In case people were watching the Celtics:)

Jake Guentzel is already tied for 7th in Penguins playoff history w/23 goals. What a remarkable two years he's had.

So I see these teams having watch parties (Winnipeg in the arena for road games, Winnipeg, Nashville, and Pittsburgh outside at home), and I wonder if Boston will ever do something like that.

So we’re a Jets comeback in their game from a final four of Tampa, Washington (!), Winnipeg (!!), and Vegas(!^infinity). We are in the bizarro timeline.

Gave away game three and game five and that was too much. Was a great two years on top and hopefully there'll be another couple runs at it while Sid and Geno are still in their primes.

I want to see Ovechkin get one. But I still have a really hard time reconciling that with the fact that I want Tom Wilson to not get one. Washing vs Tampa should be a great series.

And Greg, you guys will be back in the mix next year for sure. I still think there's a few years of your team being really good to great before the Crosby/Malkin window starts to close.

Yeah, nobody needs to shed a tear for the Penguins but they were a couple of bounces away from advancing to the ECF again. Now I can root heartily against Washington in the next round. I do NOT want to see Ovechkin get one.

I'm rooting for Washington to make the final, only to be destroyed by whatever team comes out if the west (Vegas or Winnipeg, hopefully).

Since those first two OT losses at home vs. Columbus with Grubauer in goal (replaced by Holtby before the 3rd period in game 2), the Caps have played fantastic hockey. They had one bad stretch in the 3rd period in game 1 vs. the Pens, giving up 3 quick goals but other than that nearly flawless. They are peaking at the right time. And getting some luck for a change (Pitt's shot off the post in OT last night).

Would be a serious kick in the nuts if they lost to Vegas, that is sure, given the Caps specifically tortured early history - as a first year expansion team back in the 1970s they managed to win a grand total of 8 games, and then their fans had to suffer through 8 YEARS of awful hockey for the Caps to finally even make the playoffs. For that reason, their fans will be extraordinarily bitter if the lose to an expansion team that wins a Cup in their first season....
