That was an awesome chip by Phil and an awesome putt by Henrik. I like both Phil and Henrik, so this should be fun to watch.

Phil really wanted to go to Rio, and after this weekend, he'll be ranked above Reed and Kuchar, two guys with a combined zero majors. Don't know why they needed to have the cutoff date before the Open. Does it really take that much lead time to find an opening ceremony uniform in size, or book a plane ticket (or in Phil's case, a G550)?

Even if it is a two man race, both guys are hitting phenomenal shots, so it's been fun to watch.

Also, cutoff date before the Open is really stupid.

Rory might just sneak into a top 5 finish at this rate. He is 6th with 2 holes to play, and no one in front of him has played 10-12

And now the back nine. The wind favours the left hander, but Stenson, as has been said, is hitting the ball so well. Golf doesn't get much better than this.

I don't know why people hate Stenson, he's so fun to watch.

I'm just glad I don't have to watch boring Spieth and listen to the announcers slobber all over him all day. Surprisingly, they haven't been doing that with Mickelson.

I don't know that anyone hates Stenson. I just don't know that he ranks among many peoples most favorite players.

I am with you on Spieth, I'll take Stenson every day of the week over Spieth

That said, I don't think Spieth is boring to watch. He brings some animation to the game, although he does play a little slow.

By my unofficial recollection, they've hit 19 out of 20 greens in reg so far. Only miss was Phil on 2 when he almost chipped in. Incredible.

All this talk about ball striking...the putting has been the difference. Twice Phil has missed when he's putted second and Stenson made.

Stenson had a 60 footer on 1 and 4 (though that was a 2nd shot into a par 5), but other than that both players are hitting them inside 20-25 feet every hole. Crazy good.

Stenson's tee shot on 11 is safe. Phil too.

Stenson has faded on Sundays in the past but not today.
It really feels like in Europeans v. Americans in match play situations over the last several years it always goes like this. Anything you can do I can do better.

Well, it's the phenomenal ball striking that is leaving it down to the putting.
My point is, Johnny keeps saying Stenson is the favorite because of his ball striking, but the reason he's ahead is because the guy ranked 148th in strokes gained putting is outputting the guy ranked 4th.

Both hit beautiful shots into the green too but Stensons sticks at the front of the green with no roll and phil's lands short of the pin and just trickles through off the back.

He brings fire because he's not particularly good. He hits ok drives, hits safe iron shots then wins by making putts. It's boring.

If he can't make 15 footers all day, he can't win. Period.

Yep. Feels like he bit off more than he can chew there. Should've laid up and tried to get up and down like he did yesterday.
