Game balls!!!!!

My one and only one goes to Hightower. Got the critical sack and has stabilized the D, especially after the shit show early on.

And a big piece of goat dung to Dan Fouts. Jeebejus, this guy must be the worst color guy right now and that's a low bar.

Lewis
Gronk
Hightower

The defense remains an abomination in the sight of the Lord. 350 yards passing for McCown today, plus another inexplicable miscommunication leaving a WR wide open by 20 yards. Just dreadful.

Josh Boyer (CB coach) and Steve Belichick (S coach) should be fired. Maybe Matt Patricia, too. They were a fortunate instant replay reversal from losing to the fucking Jets.

Spicy.

I think the touchback rule is stupid. But he technically lost control before going in the end zone and then landed out of bounds. It doesn't seem that controversial to me. The shitty thing is how stupid it is that a fumble though the end zone is arbitrarily a turn over. Same issue with the Gurley play against the Seahawks last week.

I thought Malcom Brown had a great game. The run defense looked better.

I say this is a karma payback for the missed PI calls against Gronk.
I would buy that. Every team has a mix of good luck and bad luck throughout a game, a season, an era.

Today the luck went the Pats way. Nothing wrong with that but the team did not look improved to me. I think this is a very average Pats team and hope they are able to figure it out.

Gurley clearly lost the ball and it bounced off the pylon and out of bounds. Tough call, but probably correct. ASJ literally bobbled it for half a second and had possession of the ball on the ground. Called a TD on the field. That was indisputably a turnover?

I know he had some negative plays, too, especially in the first half, but Butler created both the end-of-first-half INT that led to 7 points and caused the ASJ fumble that saved 7 points. He gets a gameball from me.

He definitively loses control before going in the end zone (see image post earlier) and does not demonstrate that he regained it until he's on his back out of bounds. Simple.

Yeah they’ve been terrible, but don’t want to fire coaches six games in
Well, blaming this performance on Gilmore is going to be difficult.

Is there a reason for the multiple breakdowns in every game? A reason for every opposing QB playing like an All Pro?

It is possible that McCourty, Harmon, and Chung have played the worst football of their professional careers from week 1-6 because they all regressed to awful players between last winter and this fall. It is also possible that the coaching has been poor. It isn't possible to change the players in midseason. It is possible to change the coach.

If you think the decline of play from the safeties is entirely coincidental to STEVE Belichick getting his training wheels off this season... well, you're entitled to your opinion.

I will never, ever forget when you completely disappeared from the SB 51 game thread. It was sextastic.

Gronk
Lewis

The NFL took Brady off the field for 4 games last year. I'll take every iffy call and laugh all the way home.

Suck it NY.

The Jets had 2 nice drives in the first quarter, one where they converted four third downs. Besides that the defense forced 4 3-and-outs and got two INTs, then at the end it was desperation time. The Jets aren't good but they're not the putrid team we were expecting and they usually play us close at home. I thought this was a step forward, especially with two of their top 3 CBs out.

Nice game for Lewis, Butler, Hightower. Brady doesn't get one for once - I thought he generally had protection and he was missing some throws.

Bad call, but I don't understand why fumbling through the end zone doesn't get you the ball at the 1 like fumbling out of bounds elsewhere on the field would. If it's so that people don't purposefully fumble the ball forward I'd think they could account for that possibility.

I’m a survive-and-advance type of guy, and given all the remarkable success this franchise has enjoyed over the past 17 years I don’t get riled up much during the regular season anymore. But today I was shouting in frustration at the TV like it was 1999.

Game balls to Gronk, the OL and the replay officials. Jets fans should be upset, if that call went against the Pats we’d have a Deflategate length thread about it already.

The instant replay apologists here--and the PI-call-false-equivalency line-- are embarrassing. I'm a dyed-in-wool homer Pats fan and that was one of the very worst calls I've ever seen. And perhaps the worst-ever application of replay. It's ok to own it, guys.

My take is that it redeems the Geno Smith OT Jets win, which involved one of the other worst calls I've ever seen. Edit: or what DrewDawg said.

Aren't you doing the same thing as the "PI false equivalency" people? The bad call makes up for some other bad calls that went the other way? Or: "It all evens out"...

A 260 lb TE should be able to power through DBs into the end zone. Screw the Jets.

This defense is bizarre, how many times did they let Mcnown beat them by moving around?
