To me, it looked effortless yet he was still going by everybody. Imagine when he's 100%.
But he wasn't blowing by people. I expected him to hit another gear and race into the end zone untouched but he looked relatively slow out there. Says he was gassed and that explains it. I just expected the kind of explosiveness that he showed when he roasted the Pats a few years ago. Yes he was younger then, but at 27, he should be in the absolute physical prime of his life.

It might be the hamstring. He does look a bit lumbering at times, but he made a fantastic play on the fourth and 1, as well as the big run and catch late in the game.

The hamstring has impacted his conditioning as well. Unfortunately that can be a nagging injury which might impact him the rest of the season. Even being somewhat limited with the injury Gordon has looked really good and has picked up things quickly. The fairy tale is still possible. Believe!

I dont have the numbers.....but it seemed like without Gronk they relied more on Gordon.

So more Snaps, less rest, Gassed makes sense. I wonder if he is building towards being a fully functional Death Gordon around Week 14. (assuming he doesnt fall to his demons.)

HT looked good and gets a Ball. HM to Allen who had a great kick nullified by the illegal procedure penalty. Punters should *probably never get a true game ball. But they can be hugely important in the Bend dont break game plan. His great effort was wasted, but a great effort none the less.

Brady, Brown and White all beasts.

He had also just broken a leg tackle and spun off a pretty big hit. Don't think it should be a huge surprise that he wasn't hitting top speed immediately after that.

Keep in mind he really hasn’t played much game football the past 3 years. Being in great shape and being in NFL conditioning shape are not the same thing.

Yep, the players and coaches talk a lot about being in ‘game shape.’ It’s not possible to simulate an NFL game in terms of intensity, physical exertion, or tempo, no matter how many drills or wins sprints you run.

Not dissimilar to how not all pitches thrown by a pitcher are created equal in terms of how much effort the pitcher expends (e.g. 25 pitches with the bases loaded in a playoff game is not the same as 25 pitches in a spring training game).

Also he played 95% of snaps in a game that had a lot of snaps, he probably ran more routes yesterday than any other game he's ever played

I also think Gordon knows Bill would prefer him to say “I was gassed” rather than “I aggravated my hammy”.

It was not an especially high number of offensive snaps yesterday - 64 official, which is probably fewer than usual. They only had 10 offensive drives because of the two ST TDs and the kickoff fumble.

According to pro football reference, Gordon had 61 offensive snaps yesterday. 63 last week and 69 week 1 for Cleveland.

I'd be curious to review the 3-4 plays prior to the one where Josh says he was gassed. If he ran some long routes back to back to back, prior to that reception, I can see it. I don't think it has as much to do with the entire day as much as what he was running immediately prior to that reception.

I always thought the Pats manage this well. Not so much in Subs...but I assumed in coaching/play callling.

IOW I figured Josh (or someone) kept track and it was part of the play call. IOOW...."Josh, Gordon has just run 2 40 yard goes. Lets give him a 8 yard hitch. Ok now lets have him do a 10 yard crossing."

Obviously this isnt all about Gordons reps. The would also "manage" Edelman, Gronk, etc etc. Spreading the "long runs" if you will, keeping everyone fresh(er).

I only thought this because when watching the Pats Edelman is in on seemingly every snap. As is Gronk (and Gordon yesterday). While when watching the Bengals for instance so often Green would make a catch and jog to the sidelines for a break.

Do the Snap counts back this up? Do the Pats manage their wrs workload better the other teams?
