Former Buc Stephen White (who's a really good writer fwiw) with an interesting write up on Sam. http://www.sbnation.com/2014/4/18/5604464/2014-nfl-draft-michael-sam-pass-rusher-position-projections

Lots of gifs there

tl;dr - He gushes about Sam's corner move, and says that while his technique against the run solid, strength is his biggest weakness, and will hurt him against the run.

he also mentions how sack totals aren't completely accurate; somehow, one sack against Georgia wasn't counted.

Kony Ealy and Kareem Martin show up well in this, and both were used inside a fair amount and did well there.

Thanks for the links. Kareem Martin really looks impressive by those numbers. If the Pats address other positions early, maybe Martin in the 3rd? His versatility would be nice along the line, allowing him to move inside on passing downs, similar to a role people around here have projected for Tuitt/Hageman.

The other guy I liked from those links, who I really hadn't looked at until now, is DE/OLB James Gayle from VaTech. He's ranked 124 by ESPN and 109 by CBS. He has some limitations, but as a 4th round pick, he's a guy who's consistently shown the ability to get after the QB at the college level. He measured out pretty well at the combine too (top 10 for DL in the 40, vertical and broad jumps, 3 cone drill, and 20 yard shuttle, while just missing out on the bench press with a respectable 26 reps). I need to watch some tape, but I'm intrigued. Has anyone seen him play?

Martin is getting some late buzz; I think he'd probably need a second.
Name Pos Hght Wght Arms Hands 40 yd 20 yd 10 yd Bnch Vert Broad 3Cone 20 ss Kareem Martin DE 6' 6" 272 35" 10" 4.72 1.53 22 35½" 129" 7.2 4.33 Chandler Jones DE 6' 5" 266 35½" 9¾" 4.87 22 35" 120" 7.07 4.38
Martin was much more productive in college - 19.5 sacks, 45.5 TFL, and 13 PDs vs 10 / 27 / 7 for Jones, though he played quite a bit more. I think I like Martin the best of the second-tier of pass-rushers - the Crichton / Smith / Lawrence / Smith / Van Noy / Attaochu / Murphy / Jeffcoat group. Man, there are a lot of guys in there.

“@NEPD_Loyko: According to @caplannfl Missouri DE Kony Ealy took an Official Visit to Foxboro. That's a new one.”
