MYRTLE BEACH!!!!
I just watched that. Couldn't agree more. Was walking around the ring when Diaz was interviewed. Waited his turn, told it like it was, said plan didn't work, and he'll be back. Classy. Plus it's not like Joe Rogan is going to hurt you in an interview. He respects the situation and tees up appropriate questions for the loser.

Zane Simon of Bloody Elbow had an idea that might work for Rousey, in that the only fight that would make sense for her and the UFC might be getting Tate to come out of retirement for a third go with Rhonda.

As an undercard fight?

Okay, that's hyperbole, but it wouldn't be a big draw at this point, so why would Tate want to come out for that when she seemed ready to retire before her last fight even started? It's not going to do anything for her career at this point.

FS1 showed a replay of UFC 196 this morning. That is the card where Tate (apparently a midget) beat Holm (a new evolutionary level of fighter, apparently) and Diaz beat McGregor.

The contrast between how McGregor stayed in the ring and did the interview and owned the defeat like a champion ("I am humble in defeat or victory") and Rousey's pathetic act on Friday is alarming. In 2016 we saw McGregor demonstrate exactly how to handle defeat in the fight game and Rousey demonstrate exactly how not to handle losing. Now Connor is bigger than ever and Rousey is done.

Just because this has been bugging me for a couple days, you are shorting the hell out of Dominick Cruz here. He never lost against a small time inferior fighter. He had only lost once before Friday night (in 2007) and that was a title fight against Uriah Faber (an all time great) and a loss he avenged twice in two other title fights.

I wonder what is next for Cruz. Dillashaw deserves the title shot next, so I assume Cruz will have to fight and beat someone to get the winner of that fight.
That's fair on Cruz. He was a poor example. I was going to say Silva but his loss was a DQ I think and Cruz was fresh on my mind and I blanked that it was Faber. Appreciate the correction.

Nunes is up (down?) to +150. Take all my money.
So how much money did my advice make you? I'm guessing about $200. You're welcome.

Maybe it's a hot take, but I'd keep Cruz on the shelf. I don't think there's anyone that really deserves Cruz right now, and I wouldn't want him getting hurt again for a non-title fight. Set up the Garbrandt-Dillashaw fight soon, get it on, and the winner gets Cruz. That's what I'd do.

It'd do something for her wallet though. Especially if she wins. On Ronda I'm just not sure it matters with her. Unless she learns to strike or learns she can't strike and learns to wrestle instead, it just may not matter. She's been getting worse while the rest of the division has been getting much better.

That's a good call. Other than some really bad #1 picks I can't recall so much hype for somebody so over-matched. I expect we will be inflicted with a long series of comebacks, switches to other sports etc from RR.

My kid was in Arizona for baseball and some knowledgeable sports fan parents were debating to go to an NBA game, and NHL game (okay Suns and Coyotes so barely NBA or NHL) an NFL game, or to go see Tim Tebow play fall league.

I don't think Rousey will try to come back or switch sports. I've talked about her lack of athleticism before, but also keep in mind she's now taken a lot of damage. Those were hard punches and kicks. Lots of fighters are just never the same after that, and I'm not talking psychologically.

I hope she doesn't fight again. It is hard to find any films, not in black and white, where a fighter takes on such a sustained barrage. I doubt she physically recovered from what Holm did to her.

I do think she likes fame though, and will do something to be in the public eye. And like Tebow, will be a draw, so will find increasingly less athletic offers to cash in on her fame.

Off topic note: Tebow is a hero to a segment of the population I dislike, but I find him a difficult individual to dislike.

There are a lot of ways to be famous and make money these days. She can be in the public eye in many ways without getting into another sport or continuing to fight.

The problem is her personality seems kinda shitty. It worked when she was dominant, but the whole do nothing bitch shit talking tear she was on isn't marketable any more. Even Tyson nowadays has a chill goofy persona much more than an I'll eat your children one.

I feel this is worth pointing out to Marciano and others here who seem to think Rousey was all smoke and mirrors cuz the division stank:

@FurysFightPicks

Reminder - Records since moving to Edmond Tarverdyan's gym:
Baszler 0-3
Guida 0-2
Duke 1-5
Shafir 1-2
Ellenberger 2-5
Browne 2-4

6-21

No one is saying smoke and mirrors. We are saying one trick pony vs girls who didnt ever train for fighting at the level she did.

Game has passed her by.
