I'm really looking forward to the matchup between the Lions and Vikings and have almost no interest in the other two games.

Despite that, they'll probably be on in the background for the entirety of the day.

Happy Thanksgiving!

I personally think Vikes will roll the Lions.

Lions have beaten: Cardinals / Vikings / Packers (Rodgers-less) / Giants. / Browns / Bears

Only quality team being the Vikings, and that was just a weird game (Vikings lost 14-7, had three fumbles and lost each of them, missed a FG, and Detroit had a goal line stand / turnover on downs)

Line is only a FG or so, if I still gambled I would go big on Viking

When was the last time there was a really "must see" Thanksgiving matchup between two of the league's top teams? I remember a Ravens-Niners Harbowl matchup at some point.

A big part of the problem is obviously the attachment to Detroit and Dallas. But it seems like Thanksgiving football has been boring for years.

The Lions' losses are pretty good, though. They lost to Atlanta by 4 in a game where it looked like they won it on a TD at the end and then it was overturned plus a 10-second runoff that ended the game with them losing at the 1 inch line. They lost to the Panthers by 3. They lost to the Steelers by 5 in a game where they had multiple drives end in goal line stands (they put up almost 500 yards on Pitt), including one at the end. The only bad loss is the Saints loss, and they turned the ball over 5 times that game and still had it as a one-score game in the fourth. They might not beat Minnesota, but it should be a close game.

"Butt Fumble, Sit Down," sung to the Kendrick tune "Be Humble" was funny.

Saxomophone National Anthem is kind of weak.

I understand leaning towards a call that allows a replay confirmation, but goddammit refs are getting way too scared to make the right call these days.

It's a natural progression from having the league looking over your shoulder.

Yeah, I am not a fan of that crap. Mid-play commercials, not good.

And that TD/fumble call by the refs was horrendous. How they see that as a fumble initially is beyond my skills of comprehension.

I'm going to go total Tipper Gore here, but the violent and sexualized commercials the NFL shows during afternoon Sunday games has been on my radar since I've had kids. Normally I just pause the game or mute commercials.

Today, Thanksgiving at 1pm, FOX is overlaying the game with the asshole from Sportsnight hitting a snake with a sledgehammer and some lady pulling a gun on someone? Our culture is fucked.

I'm not into censorship, but I don't really see the need for this shit at 1 in the afternoon overlaying the game.

My biggest takeaway from this is that somebody else watched Sportsnight.

Which one is the asshole? Dan?

Speaking of the Paper Lion (did they mention this in the pre-game?) and bringing some much needed couth to this forum

The other day, in the park, my son was sporting his little Detroit Lions winter hat with a pompom on it when a man wearing a Jets jersey turned to me, nodded at my boy, and said, “Lions, huh? Poor kid. My dad did the same thing to me with the Jets: got me hooked early on a losing team.” I laughed and said, “Yeah, my dad’s to blame, too.” It’s a fine fatherly tradition, passing your favorite teams down to your children, but it’s not always the nicest thing to do, especially if one of those teams is the Detroit Lions, who haven’t won a championship since 1957—

That Spence play reminded me of the Clowney v Michigan play a few years ago. Sans the fumble, which is pretty good on the Minn RB

If that’s not a catch, then I’m. It sure what the point of watching the games is.

They're going to overturn this, but I wish they wouldn't.

edit: wow, glad to be wrong.

Review, flag, flag. First time I've turned on a game in a month, this league is borderline unwatchable.

Edit: touchdown - but another review!

Right. But I want them to look good making sweet athletic plays like that one for me to enjoy as part of the process—watching them sacrifice themselves for their art.

How long ‘til the NBA considers making a move on Thanksgiving?
