You think the Giants are close to done with Eli? He hasn't won a playoff game in 5 years. Yes they made the playoffs last year but that was largely because of the defense. He isn't getting any younger.
What are the alternatives?

Alex Smith will likely be available after the season; he's under contract for 2018 for something like $14mm. But I'm not sure he's an upgrade.

Kirk Cousins will be a free agent, and would be an upgrade, but he'll cost a fortune. Sam Bradford is also a free agent, and might be more affordable, but I'm not sure he's better than Eli.

I don't think the Giants are going to bottom out badly enough to net a top-5 pick next year (they have played two good teams the first two weeks), but even if that happens and they draft a QB, it may still make sense to hang on to Eli for another year.

Enjoy the schadenfraude, Pats fans -- the next couple years are going to be tough on the G-men.

I nearly died when they pulled up a split screen of some of the coaches last night. Detroit's offensive coordinator:

Jim Bob Cooter

I don't think you could invent a more redneck name than that given a thousand tries.

I did enjoy the Giants shitting the bed while celebrating their 2007 win over the Pats. There are some bad offensive lines out there but this Giants line is pretty sad, they can't pass block or run block at all.

What's with Odell celebrating every 4 yard reception?

Man it blows my mind that Eli took over QB duties in NY a month after the Sox won the 2004 Series. Having had to watch him a lot while at Ole Miss, the dude has been antagonizing me for like 17 years. Feels like it too.

By the way I for one am enjoying the Brandon Marshall as NYG era thus far. 2 games, 9 targets, 2 catches, 27 yards. I eagerly await his cheery appearances on Inside the NFL.
