I kind of think that LV hasn't paid enough dues to deserve a cup, but on the other hand, a champ that has beaten the expansion/cap system all the way to the Cup would be cool, too

Vegas. Have a good friend who grew up in Vegas, came out here and fell in love with hockey and the Bruins. he was beyond pumped when LV got the team so he's loving this right now

I think Ovechkin is criminally underrated and gets a lot of undeserved shit as a player. But he's also an asshole and I'm not rooting for him or Tom Wilson.

Vegas has James Neal but he's cancelled out by Colin Miller and Reilly Smith. And some other likeable players. The cup celebrations in Vegas would be epic. And it'd be a giant fuck you to all the shitty GMs in this league. So go Knights.

My wife used to work for the Caps when she was in college, so I've always had a soft spot for that team. And I'd like to see Ovechkin win won and I hear that Barry Trotz is a legitimate nice guy.

I don't dislike the Knights, but "Go Caps"!

In my 20+ years of living here I've avoided doing something stupid like going to the Strip for New Year's Eve, but I think I'd have to make an exception for a Golden Knights parade on the Strip.

Knights for me. I’m living in Gerard Gallant’s hometown, and they’re already planning viewing parties at the arena. The party if they win will be nuts.

Two of my least favorite players in Wilson and Neal. Whichever one commits the first cheap shot will determine my rooting interest.

Caps.

I'm an unapologetic casual/bandwagon/playoff only Caps fan. For some reason I never got into hockey growing up in RI. I've lived in the DC area for about 25 years and the Caps are the only team I "care" about in a bandwagony way. So - Go Caps!

Want to see Ovechkin and Backstrom get one

Vegas has been a hockey town for like a year.

Protection list was too small per team (for my liking and compared to the past)

I guess I'm rooting for the Caps. My mother-in-law and sister-in-law are diehards from the 1970s. They were season ticket holders in the Yvon Labre era. They started the Gaetan Duchesne fan club in the early 80s. My wife was a diehard, but is much more of a bandwagon fan now.

Definitely rooting for the Caps. I worked for someone that worked for someone that worked for Ted Leonsis back in the AOL Greenhouse days in 1995. I was an entry level peon who was introduced to him once, and he remembered my name and gave me a hearty hello each and every time I saw him in the hall or wherever after that. That's just the kind of guy he was (is?). #ALLCAPS!

Vegas.

We'll likely never see an expansion team win a title again. Seeing it one time would be fun. Plus, I still hate Holtby for standing on his head and bouncing the Bs out of the playoffs the year after they won the Cup. And, on a more serious note, after the shooting there, it kind of has a title after Marathon bombing and Katrina feel to it, which would be nice.

Said it in the other thread but the Tim Taylor toe-in-the-crease incident has led me to an irrational hatred of the Washington Capitals. They’re only behind like Montreal, Toronto and Pittsburgh to me. So I’m rooting for Vegas. I love the story of an expansion team winning in year 1.

Disclaimer- I’d likely be singing a different tune if 2011 didn’t happen though.

Caps. I’ve lived in the DC area for over 30 years, but I’ve never really been a fan. But, my friends who are Caps fans remind me a lot of pre-2004 Red Sox fans, so I’d like to see them get over the hump and have something to be happy about.

Eh, everyone I hated in Vancouver isn't in Vancouver anymore (Burrows, LaPierre, Torres) or turned themselves into someone I begrudgingly respect (Luongo, the Sedins). Its also the nearest place to me that I can see the Bruins currently.
Side note: I need to renew my passport.

Edit: Second side note: schedules are released around June 20th or so.

That reminded me of fucking Holtby and the 2012 series. That Bruins team was good enough to repeat (2nd in goals for and 5th in goals against).

I think I'd prefer Vegas for the sheer insanity of an expansion team winning a championship, and not undeservedly so at that. But on the other hand Ovechkin is far, far too great of a player to never win one. As long as the games don't suck this is a fantastic cup as a neutral fan.

The foot in the crease was one of my first true sports heartbreaks but it's water under the bridge after 2011 and the absurd run of general Boston sports success. Washington is way up there on the list of cities I wouldn't begrudge winning a championship (asshole football team owner aside).

I had a soft spot for the Caps after Jacobs decided to crap down Bruins fans throats and Juneau and Oates ended up there. Between that, wanting Ovechkin to get one and thinking Vegas shouldn't get one the first year in the league, I'm pulling for Washington

Every time I start thinking about Ovechkin deserving a ring, Son of Shithead does something to make me root harder for Vegas.

I'm pretty neutral here. Same reasons as others - love the LV insanity, want Ovie and Backstrom to get theirs, but Wilson is tilting this in Vegas' favor. I also have a weird affinity for some Western Conference teams going back to the heyday Avs with Sakic, Forsberg, Foote, Ozzy (Borque played no small part here) and the Ducks of the early 2000s (Kariya, Selanne, Getzlaf, Giguere, etc.).

I went back to SCF results and I apparently blacked out the time the Stars beat the Sabres?!??

Can I change my vote? Didn't realize until tonight how much a Vegas win would irritate Leafs fans. Go Knights!
