I watched him take BP before Opening Day in Arlington in 2006 from the stands in LF. He was hitting absolute moonshots over my head into the second deck. I was awestruck at their sheer majesty and fell in love that day. I still have a #22 Pena t-shirt somewhere in my closet, it'd be fun to bust it out for an Indians game this year.

I will never forget the zero-arc line drive blast he hit into the monster seats. Sick.

I will never forget him playing LF at the Bash one year, where a soft line drive right to him caused his body to spin and contort like Wile E. Coyote in that moment when he looks down and realizes he's going to fall off the cliff.

This was the first thing I thought of. I was scared that rocket was going to take someone's head off on the monster.

I was so disappointed to find out he pronounced his name like Willy instead of Wile E.

I'll always remember a grand slam in the 8th down 2-1 in Baltimore that gave Beckett a W in 2007. All that I remembered, but I'd have thought the game was in summer. Looking it up, it was April 26, and no doubt gave me more hope than I should have felt about Pena's long term chances--his AVG was .172 after a 2-hit day. To be fair, Pedroia's was .184 after 0/2 with a BB.

I was on the monster when he was taking BP with the Reds in '05. (The night they "dedicated" the Fisk pole). He hit a rising blast that was headed under the billboard in left-center and hit a woman standing in the last row in the arm. It was loud. Good thing it got flesh, not bone. She was down for quite a while.

Hardest non HR I ever saw...WMP hit a topspin liner (off Joel Pinero when Pinero was a Mariner) that bounced a good 40 feet in front of the warning track in RF and one hopped over the bullpens into the bleachers. Freakin' Pinero shut the Sox down that day, but that ball definitely stayed hit.
