I like longer games in the playoffs. Building pressure, runners on, pitchers having to deal with base stealers in close games in the seventh inning.

Games like tonight are ok, but really just three quick strikes for runs and very little tension. A few 2:28 games here and there in the regular season would be nice but in the World Series I like games like last year.

California. Duh.
Kerswaw 11 K's on only 83 pitches. Hell of a performance by him.

That pen definitely makes the decision to pull him out easier.

But if Verlander can steal one tomorrow, all of a sudden HOU goes home for three straight where they are 6-0 (1-5 on the road).
One thing though -- Verlander and Keuchel started five of those six games. I think that had as much to do with their record as the venue. Tomorrow seems almost like a must-win for the Astros.

2 1/2 hours? I love it Nice, crisp game. It's also nice to watch a WS game where guys aren't wearing ski parkas & gloves (unless it's a WS game being played in Fenway)
Obviously happy that the MFYs lost, but a contrast between 100 degree LA and Cle or NYC with a cold front pushing through this weekend would have been fun to watch - from my climate controlled couch.

I thought the ump called a great game in real time, but Brooks has him missing a few I must have missed.

Brian Kenny and the others on mlbn thought he was calling a number of low pitches strikes. Me, too. This is, in my opinion, why the game was so brief. Batters afraid not to swing.

I'm in favor of a generous strike zone, as it should be if called by the book. Knees to chest, and on the corners, any pitch that so much as grazes the outermost edge of the plate is a strike.
But that called third strike on Altuve was low.

Kershaw at the post game podium with Harold and friends: he did want to stay in (of course) after the 7th. Felt strong and he mentioned that the Astros 7,8 and 9 hitters were due in the 8th, and they weren’t as good against lefties. Not huge that he knew that, but I bet not all pitchers on all teams have that detail right off the top. Just a feeling.
