The Red Sox came from behind twice in this game and slugged out a win behind the bats of Ted Williams and Bobby Doerr. Teddy Ballgame clubbed his fifth homerun of the season in the 9th inning to tie the score at 10 and Doerr laced an RBI double to deliver the walkoff victory.

Bobby Doerr blasted an 8th inning shot to knot the score at one off White Sox pitcher Ted Lyons. This was Doerr's anticlimactic shot of the day, he saved the real heroics for extras. Launching his second round-tripper of the game, Doerr's three RBI accounted for all the Red Sox scoring and gave Boston the W.

Tony Lupien, who had taken over for Jimmie Foxx at first base following his sale to Chicago was the hero of both ends of this double-header. The Harvard grad had delivered the winning run in routine fashion earlier in the day, but saved the true theatrics for the nightcap. The walkoff victory extended the Red Sox' win streak to eight games.
