Boston 4, Detroit 2 - 11 innings

  • 5/22 - Syd O'Brien was inserted as a pinch-runner for Dick Schofield after his walk led off the 9th. O'Brien moved over to third on a sacrifice bunt and a groundout. Carl Yastrzemski was then intentionally walked before Reggie Smith singled home O'Brien for the victory.

Boston 4, California 3

  • 6/6 - George Scott homered with two outs in the 10th inning off Royals starter Bill Butler to save the Red Sox from a loss, tying the game at 2. Dick Schofield then doubled with one out in the 11th before Dalton Jones smashed a Moe Drabowsky pitch for a walk-off homer.

Boston 4, Kansas City 2 - 11 innings

  • 6/21 - Vicente Romo allowed three Yankees Runs in their 11th inning, even with the benefit of a successful hidden ball trick. Dalton Jones got the Red Sox going in the home half when he walked with one out. A George Scott single and a Tom Satriano walk loaded the bases. Joe Lahoud then doubled in Jones and Scott before Dick Schofield was intentionally walked to load the bases again. This time, George Thomas did the damage, plating Satriano and Lahoud with the game-winning single, completing the comeback. Incidentally, Thomas was the one that pulled off the hidden ball trick, catching Jerry Kenney unaware.

Boston 6, New York 5 - 11 innings

Boston 4, Cleveland 3 - 10 innings

  • 8/7 - The Pilots got a run in their 9th to take a 4-2 lead. But George Scott doubled to start the Boston 9th and eventually scored on a Dick Schofield single. Mike Andrews also singled before pinch-hitter Don Lock struck out, bringing the Sox down to their final out. Carl Yastrzemski then hit a ball towards defensive replacement Ray Oyler. Oyler erred, loading the bases for Reggie Smith. Smith came through again, as his single drove in Schofield and Andrews for the win.

Boston 5, Seattle 4

Boston 7, Minnesota 6 - 10 innings

  • 8/20 - Mike Andrews walked to start the Boston 9th mand he was advanced to second by a Don Lock sac bunt. Reggie Smith was then walked intentionally before Rico Petrocelli struck out. With two down, Tony Conigliaro singled home Andrews to beat the Twins in walk-off fashion for the second time in three games.

Boston 7, Minnesota 6

Boston 4, Kansas City 3

  • 9/5 - Toby Harrah was making his Major League Debut as a pinch-runner when he scored the tying run off Sparky Lyle in the Senators 9th. Syd O'Brien then walked to start the home half for Boston. The bases eventually became loaded on an error and another walk to bring up Rico Petrocelli. Rico drew yet another walk from Darold Knowles, pushing O'Brien across with the winning run.

Boston 9, Washington 8

  • 9/24 - The Red Sox and Yankees stood at 0-0 through 13 1/2 innings when George Scott singled to start the 14th. Scott moved to second by way of a Tom Satriano sac bunt. Pinch-hitter Dalton Jones then walked to bring up Mike Andrews. Andrews doubled off Stan Bahnsen to score Scott with the Sox' 11th walk-off win of the year.
