2005 Red Sox Walk Offs
From SoSH
- 5/10 - Trailing the A's 2-1, David Ortiz walked with one out in the 9th, bringing up Kevin Millar. Millar got hold of an Octavio Dotel offering, hitting his second homerun in as many days, after having gone homerless for a career-high 120 AB's beforehand. Millar's walk-off gave Matt Mantei his one and only career Red Sox win.
- 5/11 - Jason Varitek beat Octavio Dotel for the second day in a row with a 2-run homer with 1 out against the Oakland A's with David Ortiz on first base.
- 6/2 - With one out in the top of the ninth, Rafael Palmeiro grounds to second but beats the relay throw for the double play, allowing the Orioles to score and take a temporary 4-3 lead. But Edgar Renteria's gutsy two out bunt single in the bottom of the inning moves Mark Bellhorn into scoring position and sets the stage for David Ortiz, who works the count full before sending a B.J. Ryan fastball into the center field bleachers to end the game.
- 6/17 - Johnny Damon Single with 1 out against the Pittsburgh Pirates' Mike Gonzalez in the 9th inning with Mark Bellhorn on first base, Bill Mueller on second base, and Jason Varitek scoring from third base.
